    My design scheme/ Exact Measurements?

Square rooms are very bad. I think you need to do a lot more research before you undertake a project of this size.

How is this setup for recording?

If you are using windows XP, then you need AT LEAST 512mb of RAM. If you are using lots of plugins then you will probably want to add even more later.

    Soundcraft makes great mixers.

Yes, but only with a crapload of eq!

    Sovtek Big Muff

Record the distorted parts through a mic'ed amp. If your engineer is worth two shits he would already be on top of it. If your engineer tells you that direct inject is the only "propper" way to record bass, then the guy is a douche and you should find another studio. Just my 2 cents

    PreSonus MP20 worth buying

Why not just buy an fmr rnp? They are around the same price as the mp20, and the rnp will unquestionably be better than your soundcraft. The mp20 gets some decent reviews, but I've never heard anyone give it the same type of glowing remarks that you hear about the rnp. I've never personally used...

    Squashed Drums

I'm not sure what they use on drums, but I know that the flaming lips are BIG fans of the ART pro VLA, and use it extensively. You could probably find one used for around $200. I think that they run $300 or $400 new.

PODxt or 10 or 15 watt Marshall Amp?

THE POD IS AWESOME!!!!!!! ...............for laying down scratch guitar tracks so a drummer and bassist can do their tracks on their own time. It is also nice to have the scratch tracks in place when trying to guess how your drum or bass sound will fit in the mix. For this it is GOLDEN. This is...

how do you record your electric guitar w/ distortion?

I don't think there is anything wrong with your amp. Crate isn't the best, but they can give you a perfectly useable sound. In fact I don't think the guitars on that recording sounded bad at all, but you are very right in that they have no punch and need a lot of tweeking. My 2 cents: 1.)Turn...

    Need Advice on Upgrade

IMHO the Grace 101 and the TLM103 is the best combo for clear and transparent vocals out of the ones you listed.

    OH Mics

If you have that kind of cash to spend, then the big boys rave about the new Josephson c42s. One of the studio standards is the AKG c451. Either of these mics would be GOLDEN as a pair of overheads. I've head great things about the T.H.E. mics, but the Josephsons and the akgs by far get the most...

    Yorkville YSM1p Powered Monitors $375

True, but I've found that most music stores do not carry yorkville. Most people end up having to order them anyway.

    EV RE20 or Sennheiser MD441?

I would also just like to point out that the 441 requires A LOT of clean gain to really appreciate what it is capable of. I have no experience with an RE20, but the 441 requires a bit more gain than most of your usual dynamic mics, and because of this it really benefits from a decent pre-amp. If...

    EV RE20 or Sennheiser MD441?

Shouldn't you point out that this post is also a joke? No "real" person could actually post something this misinformed. I think we have a renegade puppet on our hands! But quite frankly, I've been enjoying the humor.

    Just scored a Martin!

I'm not trying to get out of fixing the guitar. I do plan on spending whatever amount of money is required to get it tip-top shape, but there is no way I could spend that kind of dough on it right now. The bridge seems well intact, and although it needs a fret job, it is still quite playable at...

    Just scored a Martin!

Is this with the strings on or off? It should be even with the piece of bone that the strings sit on, or the wood part? The bridge slants down toward the high-e string, which end should I use for reference? I can slide the corner of a a post-it a few millimeters under the bridge on about and...

    LINE 6 or BOSS???

Yes, but there is also a Line6 delay pedal somewhere on one of their pedal boards. Not to sway you though, I would personally choose the Boss.

Thanks for the tip Cyrokk, I will have to pick one up for the winter months. I live in Venice, which is south of Orlando. Have you been getting these daily thunderstorms that keep knocking my power out?

Samson C03 (I need to know, cuz I don't know how long, I can hold on)

I've heard a few good things about the c04, but samson mics generally get lukewarm reviews. I'm not saying that the salesperson is wrong in this case or that Samson mics are bad, but it is a good rule of thumb that you should never believe anything a salesperson tells you.
