    Really thin guitar sounds.

I read this often. Is this really true? Why?

    Harshness...

You're over analyzing. Is a 57 that big of a question in your mind? It's the stalwart for recording heavy gtr.

    Would read again... :drunk:

    Harshness...

I listened to a couple of your clips and I don't hear the harshness you describe. I do hear a distant and weak sounding mix. You say the guitar tones are harsh. Possibly post an as tracked gtr only clip. Consider your listening environment needs work.

    Harshness...

Since I can't imagine what you're hearing, I can't imagine any advice to give. :D How about a clip?

Those are humbuckers. Are you playing the bridge PUP. No, not downtuning but playing . If I get a chance today I'll post your DI reamp against a similar tight riff with the HT5. If this collage (guitar tone wise) is similar enough to your example to make the point, I can carve out the guitars...

Recording punk rock along the lines of Green Day

What's the point of joining (or creating a new username) and then bumping 10 year old threads.

Good metal sound with this equipment?

This is a good question. Scotty, I've tried reamping with your DI but the bottom is too loose. Palm muting is a necessity. I reamped using some other tight playing DI clips I have and I believe the HT5 (driving a V30) will do what you want. I'm trying to determine another route. I'm basing...

Put them on your new NetMucisians.org account. :D I'll let you know when I have them and you can then remove them. Hi-bit MP3 is Okay.

Good metal sound with this equipment?

IDK. Your UTube example is a very tight tone. If time allows, I'll give it a try but it won't be with the stock HT5 speaker. Do you have a pair of short DIs available that I could use to reamp with.

Good metal sound with this equipment?

I checked several of your clips and I agree you're way off comparing to the example Youtube clip. I have a HT-5 and IMO I get a gainier tone than what I heard in your clip. Here's several HT5 wanks: Blackstar_Combo_Demo.mp3 Blackstar_H75.mp3 - Driving Scumback H75 Speaker blackstar_ts9.mp3 -...

Guitar/amp feedback, the good type - how?

I use this quit often but the guitar and amp make the difference. I can usually get the feedback by location but touching the headstock to the cab is like a control element. My PRS with my Dorado amp does this every easily. Dorado To a lesser extent. M90

    Quick spaced pair question.

Glen is correct. The 3:1 rule is used when micing two sources with two mics. Mic 1 is X1 distance from source 1 S1 Mic 2 is X2 distance from source 2 S2 To minimize bleeding on each mic from the other source ... the distance X1 to S2 should be at least 3 X1 ... the distance X2 to S1...

    Amps?

I'm in a similar situation. I live in a very rural area and can't try any amps. My recommendation is to scour the forums specifically HCAF (very young crowd but some amp info), The Gear Page and Rig-Talk. Soon you'll know all the major amp makers. Here's amps I own if you care to PM me...
