What Caps to use for fixing up vintage solid state amp.

I'm fixing up a 70's HH Electronics V-S Musician amp. One of the caps has been leaking, so I'll replacing both of them. We're talking about 4700uf 50V elctrolytic capasitors here. Easy enough to order a couple put them in of course. I fixed up a Fender Bassman this summer. When reading up on...

Funny you should say that, I'm in the middle of a little research on how to clean membrames. I've read a couple of opinions now, how do you do it?

Clock Noise on my Electro Harmonix Poly Chorus, is there a mod?

I got a Electro Harmonix Poly Chorus. If you turn up the Rate, pretty quickly a horrible clicking noise comes in. Through a quick post in the Guitar & Bass section I learned this is clock noise and is considered normal. Is there anything I can do about it? Thanks.

Problem with Electro Harmonix POLY CHORUS pedal, klicking sound when you turn up RATE

That's normal? I don't understand this kind of stuff, my brother has that Big Muff pedal. Sounds great, appart from that wall of hum behind the effect which makes it unusable as far as I'm concerned. Is there a mod to do something about this clock noise?

Problem with Electro Harmonix POLY CHORUS pedal, klicking sound when you turn up RATE

I thought I had a good deal a whyle back on a used Electro Harmonix Poly Chorus pedal. The trouble is the more you turn up the Rate, the faster a weird clicking sound comes up. Does any one have any idea what this could be, or what to do about it? I am using the original, correct power...

    What is a Harmonica Microphone?

These days mics are low impedance mics, just like the mixers etc. you plug them into. But until somewhere in the sixties everthing used to be high impedance. Guitars and amplifiers still are high impedance to this day. This is why high impedance microphones are used for harmonica, because...

The people who have never designed circuits explain why USB mics suck thread

What random people hear and what trained ears hear are two completely different things. The result of equipment choises and mic placement become apparant when you're stacking tracks. It's the same with professional cooks, they're mouths are trained to taste more subtle differences, which he...

The people who have never designed circuits explain why USB mics suck thread

I think you are kinda responding to a thread on HR this week, in which a guy wasn't happy with his USB mic, he wanted "a professional sound". I'm sure you're right if you say USB mics are very handy for people who don't have very high standards (if that's what yóú say rappers are), but...

What to look for if I want a cheap sounding mic?

Do you want a cheap mic, or do you want a raunchy sound? It's the easiest thing in the world to buy a cheap mic. If you want raunchy you're going into the realm of harmonica microphones, Shure has the Green Bullet, which is not cheap at all. A cheap solution is to use the capsule from an old...

    Replace my actual mic

Yeah, that's true, you have to learn how to work the equipment and train your ears as well, and that isn't something you can learn in a week. If you put in all that cash you have to be sure you're truely commited.

    Replace my actual mic

I'll try to explain this as plain as I can. Getting something to sound professional has to do with the entire recording chain. Starting with the performer and the room he's in, then the microphone, to the preamp, to the interface, effects etc. etc. A pro mic, a pro preamp, a pro interface, a...
