Will Naiants be a pain in the ass?

Don't think so, but whatever you do, don't mention USB microphones.

    Live Microhpone.

Ussually the people who do the sound at smaller venues don't know what they're doing. They're too parcial to bass, have no ear for harmony and basicly applied for the job to get free beer. You can't win. I've tried quite some mics and always came back to the SM58, allthough the mentioned EV 80...

    Condenser Microphone

If this is the budget you're working with, you may want to settle for the SM57. What kind of interface and preamps are you using? Everything in the recording chain effects the sound. You can't expect to hear anything near what you're used to from your record collection with a $100 budget...

    Wtf?

Well I noticed allright. :D But luckely I didn't... ... I fell over, thus disconnecting myself, which was a lucky escape... although I did nearly fall into the stairwell. Anyway, the mic might indeed have been static, and the electrical current may have traveled through you into the...

    Wtf?

It's possible. Maybe the electricity travelled through you. Electricity wants to go into the ground, and a mic cable is grounded. I few weeks ago I got shocked when holding a electrictity wire with a pair of shock-proof plyers (in one hand) and a grounded lamp, in the other. Strange.

    Wtf?

I'm not sure, but... ...if the mic buzzed, and you had the phantom power on, we can safely say the mic short cirquited the phantom power, right? If the phantom power supply on your desk has some kind of overheating-prevention-mechanism, that might have saved it. And that's not unlikely. I'm...

What's the Recipe for making a Rack?

That's entirely up to you. You could get some nice preamps to put in. A good compressor is always a good idea. Track with a little (!) compression. Then put a little plug in compression on it afterwards. Two times a little compression is often better then one large portion. Just don't get the...

What's the Recipe for making a Rack?

As above. Read up a little on the difference between graphic- and parametric equalizers and you'll get his point. I have to make do with a small budget. What helps to strech that budget is to research what were high end units in the late 80's, early 90's. See which of those can be had in the...

    Need Help Deciding...

No brainer; Les Paul. Rich clean tone and sounds like a truck when destorted.

I had a weird dream last night..

That's right, you mentioned that before; seven kids... wow. You must have a good income of you can support a wife, seven kids and a budding microphone collection.

That depends on wether or not you had to change your underware when you woke up. :D

    Help Choosing a mic!

Stay clear of Behringer if you can. Audio Technica is the better choice, so are the Rode NT1A and MXL67V. A nice thing about the Rode is that while you use it, you can save some extra money to have it modified by Michael Joly.

    Would you buy this one?

No. I'm a big fan of Ace's playing... but this kind of stuff is just to wring more money out of Kiss fans.

What Caps to use for fixing up vintage solid state amp.

I had allready Googled it and ordered a pair of Panasonics. Indeed I took the 105c version, it always make sense to invest a little in dureability. Thanks for that one, I wouldn't have known otherwise.

What Caps to use for fixing up vintage solid state amp.

Hi Paul, thanks for the input. Please excuse my ignorance. I'm in the process of learning about this sort of stuff + English is not my first language. What is "105 degree rating"? I think these are power supply caps, indeed.
