If you're looking for quality realistic drum samples I do have a sample cd for sale; M-Audio Pro Sessions vol. 43 discrete rock drums. The samples and loops are spectacular. I don't use it anymore though b/c I just got a house where I can record real drums in. I paid $50 for it, I'd let it go...
Try Fruity Loops.. It's pretty good as a drum sequencer. The preset patches are nothing special, but you can load any samples of anything into it for sequencing.
good luck.
Hey all,
I needed to reverse the polarity on a track where I had mic'd both the top and bottom of a snare and I realized I didn't have a way to do it in my DAW.
I did however find a FREE non destructive VST for this here:

sounds like you got the right idea... Only thing I could suggest if you're not happy w/ the vox is to try an LDC mic. The 57's start droppin' around 15khz so you may be losing some of that high end shimmer that cuts through a mix.
Ya, with those dynamic mics the high end is usually lacking at 12 to 15khz. Great for stage, not the first thing I'd pick up in studio though. If you're using eq and such chances are that you're trying to boost frequencies that aren't really there to begin with. Definately check into a...
If you wish to use compression, take a look at where your peaks are and set the threshold below that, set the ratio accordingly. If you set the ratio at 3:1, if the input goes 3db over the threshold the compressor will bring that down to one db over the threshold. Experiment with the attack...
Turn up the gain on your monitors... that'll make it louder.
Then when you have a nice smooth mix send it off to a mastering house and they'll be able to crank up volume for ya without distorting it.
I heard a bit of digital distortion from clipping. Vox are a bit uneven. some nice panning of instruments. For your first mix I'd say it's fuckin' great!
Hey, I offered future paying business to the person who helped me on my project! :) .
In a way, I think it's good that all these people are at least trying to find outside help to master instead of slapping on the cracked Waves L2 and smushing it from here to the moon!
I'd guess that the problem may be the sound card if you're using a cheap factory stock card. Also, probably check that you don't have any gain turned up on the sound card... maybe try a different RCA cable just in case it's that.
