    Remove vocal from track app?

Hi, I am after an app that manage to do a decent vocal removing from a track. It's a very short track (1:18) that I would like to dub it. The song in question is the Star Trek Enterprise intro theme at 3rd season ("Faith of the heart" country style sang by Russell Watson). Any input...

IR and convolution on cans - how far we are from this?

Indeed! :) Unfortunately mostly of the contributors didn't got the real spirit of the thread and were captured by the good old 'my point is better' booby trap. It turned what could be a serious discussion into an ordinary collection of fights. But heck, I chuckled a lot reading some of the...

What software can I use on ubuntu?

It is a sequencer software... It has some DAW capabilities (as well mostly of DAW has sequencer abilities) but it is definitively NOT primarily a DAW. Anyway, a quick Google research has returned me that there is a certain LMMS that seems to be a free cross-platform alternative to FL.

can you recommend a small amp that does clean well?

I have a small Vox VT-15 that is awesome and cheap. All Vox cube line is excellent.

    LP terminology...

I am a humbucker guitar player, so I think that a hb guitar is the starting point for me. I wouldn't say that it is a 'rock stuff' because it would reduce too much the abilities of a humbucker pup, HB pickups has its own personality, and while the bridge one can be annoying when played pure the...

IR and convolution on cans - how far we are from this?

A couple of days ago a newcomer fellow has started a thread asking opinions about two products (one of them from Waves) which promises to turn headphones into a reliable replacements for true monitors. I am one of the dudes that doubted that they aren't more than pure babble mostly because the...

Electric to acoustic guitar IR VST?

I was wondering if someone has already bothered to make an IR plugin out there to model electric guitar sound into acoustic guitar? It would save me some cash, labor and headache to install a piezo pickup on my 175... :guitar:

Cheap instrument plugins for teenage beginner?

It is not entirely true. Reaper has plenty of sound F/X plugins although they lack of a proper appeal. As for instruments keep in mind that no one DAW has the obligation of come with some because differently from sequencers such as Fruity Loops (and others) it is not intended to be a composition...

    headphone choice help

Particularly I don't bother too much with the stereo image (ducking now and protecting my head from thrown rocks!). For me the main problem on mixing with cans is that even the worst mix you do will sound good on'em! Unfortunately what will sound good on headphones won't necessarily sound good...

    Preamp or vst chain ?

With all those nice amp/cab simulators I don't see a point on record electric guitars with a real mic/amp. I used to do that several years ago when this is the only way of get a decent guitar recording, but since I met the stunning impulse technology I abandoned the classic style for good...

Cheap instrument plugins for teenage beginner?

+1. I have recorded one of my new album tunes using their cellos as replacement for background keyboards! This is simply awesome! And it's free! BTW, the whole DSK free collection is great. I have a bunch of them and have used it more than once with respectable results. :guitar:

    The One That Got Away

Looking back in time I can recall a lot of stuff (not only guitars) that I should have kept. At the time they were only cheap junk that I was in "lucky" to find someone to pay for such stuff. Now they are valuable vintage stuff that I would love have in home. :(

    The One That Got Away

I think that this time you had luck. I don't know about acoustics, but the Washburn Lyon electrics are a big load of crap. I had one and it was no doubt one of the worse guitars I touched. I couldn't believe when someone bought it from me and it was one of the happiest days of my life. Should...

    The One That Got Away

Mine was a white pearl 1987 SE-300 Yamaha with a magical strat like standard whammy that kept the strings in tune no matter what. Awesome guitar. I was her second owner and it was like new when I bought it with a nice "L" shaped luxury brown case. Around 10 years later along a period away from...
