Radio station in my guitar amp!

Thats so fucked up, this happens in my studio sometimes and its always the sort easy listening/smooth jazz station thats come through! Why is that? Is smooth jazz so powerfully sucky that it can be heard trough anything, like fillings and metal stuff? And why is it that when you are on a road...

    Makie 1604 VLZ routing questions

Vox, I use a mic through a channel now, and it works, buuuuu-uuut, a dedicated TB mic would be really cool. I can deal w/ two amps, I have been wanting to get a stereo receiver to check mixes on anyway, so this will just force me to do it.

    Makie 1604 VLZ routing questions

Fellers/Fellets: I just ordered one of those nifty Samson C Control thingys for my control room. So I was all excited and thinking finally a talkback mic and a way to monitor multiple sources on multiple speakers when I suddenly thought of something, “this might not work!” Question 1: I...

    Auralex Foam Kits

Ok well heres the deal. My room is tragically shaped and small. these are approximate dimesions but are pretty close: 8'x 12' and then there is a closet at the back of the room that adds about 2' but there is a 8-12" gap in between the top of the closet wall and the drop ceiling which is...

    Auralex Foam Kits

Hiya! I need to improve the sound of my control room real bad. There are all kindsa weird frequency problems, to much bass, etc. I have been lurking around this forum for a while and reading about building bass traps and diffusers and all that stuff. I have, however, come to the conclusion...

    Good recording mixers?

Dogs: I am looking for some suggestions on a good 12-16 mixers. I currently have the obligatory Mackie 1604 VLZ. Its not bad, it works, its real boring sounding. I do most of my mixing in Samplitude so I dont need a lot of channels. But I do need some decent sounding ones. Maybe some w/ some...

Double track vox, yeah or neh??

My drummer and I both sing in our recordings. Neither of us have great voices but we can carry tune and do a pretty good job of writing melody. I love double tracking stuff, I am luck as I have very good pitch and usually duplicate my parts pretty flawlessly. My drummer hates having his shit...

    Dual Monitor Woes

Hey Folks, This is a bit of a novel I have seen a lot of people on this forum talk about using two monitors. I would assume that they are doing something like putting the mixer on one display and the graphic tracks on the other. At least that's what i would want to do. anyway, I have a...

    Mixing with the band

Speaking of idiots...I think I am one....I just read the first post. I kind of missed the point If the band is doing their own recording, like my band is, same thing: Me and another member there to mix it to a point and then let the rest of the band put in their suggestions after listening to a...

    Mixing with the band

I welcome input from the band. I usually prefer not to have all 4-6 members there, especially if they have not discussed what it is they want from the final product. That drives me fucking nuts! I think bands should elect 1 or 2 people whom they feel comfortable entrusting w/ decision making...

    Stereo Micing Guitar Amps

As for the "thick" distorted sound I have found that actually using less overdrive can often help obtain a bigger more menacing sound. I use a 57 at an angle from the center of the cone and a ADK A51 Chinese cheapie LD about a foot back for blending. Every once in a while if I have guitarist...

    re my popping adats

Oops sorry, I just echoed Tex's post. Although I dont thing you need a BRC but it will prolly take longer for the machines to sync up so be sure and leave plenty of pre-roll time on the tapes Twonky

    re my popping adats

I think the two slaves should be set to EXternal, that way the first is the master. Also this might be kind of obvious, but make sure they are all set to the same sample rate as well. Twonky
