Need advice on bass cabs please!

I believe the cab we use now is 4 ohm speakers. We tend to get some feedback problems when turning the bass amp up. We might just go for 4x10. Any particular brands that are good in our budget range?

Need advice on bass cabs please!

My band uses an upright bass. We got a pick up on it going into a hartke 250 watt amp head and a 2x10 GK 200 watt cab. I think its time for an upgrade. When we play at full blast the bass is totally getting drowned by our drums and guitars. The loudness seems to be ok but its the low rumble that...

any hiphop/rappers wanna trade an old mic for...

Dude ..... Just shell out like 30 or 40 bucks and pick up a low end Shure mic. That should give you much better quality than a pc mic that's not meant for your needs.

Lookin for Guitar tones........ yo Farview?!

Very true jamacian. I think imma try my luck with a pod or v amp for direct recording. My crate vtx amp actually does ok for our jam sessions. I just had some bad settings dialed in.

Lookin for Guitar tones........ yo Farview?!

I got that SIR reverb plugin that uses IR's and some guitar tracks I was messin with are sounding much more live and real. Guitarsuite is workin good too. Though my crate amp is a piece of s ..... Its one of crates mid range models. Not the very crappy low end stuff. But I am totally gonna tweak...

Lookin for Guitar tones........ yo Farview?!

i am looking for two guitar sounds in particular. One is the heavy distortion from a band called Tiger Army and the other is the sound of Brian Setzer from his stray cats days. Here's the catch...... i'm trying to do it "artificially" as i obviously cant afford any big expensive Marshall stack...

    power amp and clipping?

ok....when i ran the amp "volume" knob at about 3/4 of max, it had pretty much no hiss at all. Very silent! Im happy about that. It does have a limiter function, so i am thinking now that the clip light started blinking because a particular song was louder than the 3/4 level which i believe is...

    power amp and clipping?

Thanks for clarifying Lt. Bob. So if I leave the amp wide open would it heat up faster or does that still depend on the mixer volume level of the inputs?

    power amp and clipping?

Sorry for the confusion. It is a cheap gemsound xps 1200 power amp (sounds pretty good actually and didn't heat up one bit after about an hour of continuous play) and a Yamaha mg8 mixer. I connected an mp3 player to the CD input on the mixer just to sound check the amp and speakers. So the amp...

    power amp and clipping?

Its just for vocals actually. Guitars and bass use their own amps not micd to the pa. We might DI the upright bass to the mixer though but just to pick up the slap and add a bit of delay. The bass would be turned all the way down because the bass amp would be handling the lows. The clipping...

    power amp and clipping?

Good info Lt Bob. We actually gonna be using it for our garage practices but we were testing it out by hooking up an mp3 player to the mixer. The lights would light up for less than a second at around every strong beat. They definitely weren't staying lit though. We were using a powered mixer...

    power amp and clipping?

I just got a 2 channel power amp that is 100 watts rms to each channel and I am connecting 2 12 inch pa speakers that handle 500 watts peak. When I turn the amp around 3/4 of full volume I notice that the clip indicator lights on the amp start to light up. Is that pretty common? How much...

    Batch normalizing?

dude, you are right...........if i was talking about a recording/demo project. I learned a while back that a "quick and dirty" rms normalization is not the way to go on recordings. But i am not, i am talking about a lame ass mix cd that i want for my office at work to be played at not even half...

    Batch normalizing?

This isn't for any of my recording tracks but I am trying to make a mix CD for my office at work of a bunch of mostly 1950s music. The problem is that a lot of the files are very low compared to some of the others. And in my office we can't be getting up every song to adjust the volume on the CD...
