Earphones, In Ear Monitoring for Casual Listening

Holy moly, good question. DISCLAIMER: I work for RadioShack Corporate, but this answer isnt biased. Ok, I bought some awesome headphones the other day, and they are working wonders on sound and outside noise reduction. The 33-1167 at RadioShack (go to the website and type it in the search box)...

    Noob question

Alright, how about this. The behri is good, and I am happy with my other behri stuff. What I am really looking for is an upgrade from just plugging my condenser mic directly into the mixer, and the mixer going to the soundcard. It really doesn't feel like there is much warmth to the vocals im...

    Noob question

I think I am ready to take the next step in my homerecording advernture. I want to buy a compressor for vocals. But first, I have a few questions for you guys, which will probably flame me to a crisp, but I have to ask. The search function yielded only higher level answers, so yes, I did try...

    CEP Basics - EQ

OK, a couple of questions about EQ. First, how high is too high. Is boosting the eq by 3 high? or 30? Is there a standard limit that i should never go over. Second, are there any EQ level standards that I can at least start out? i.e. Vocal levels should have the high-end boosted, acoustic...

    "Weight of da World"

Man, great cadence and flow...Although, I can't stand all the talking at the beginning, but that seems to be the new hip-hop standard. Heavy song man.

    pod vs. v-amp

I own the V-Amp 2, and it seriously was one of the best purchases i have made in a while. It was only $100, and it took my distorted guitars from crappy mic'ed Peavey Bandit and Zoom 505 to sounding alot better. BUT! I don't do this for a living, only a hobby. As I was hella impressed with the...

    Help with vocals

New Song - I Try I am getting pretty burnt out on this. Did this one, as always, in just a few hours. Trying to get the sibilance out of the vox, but I am having the damdest time. Any thoughts? Also, feel free to comment on the song, the lyrics, whatever. I always like criticism...

Hearing myself while tracking - monitoring

When I'm tracking in AA1.5, I can't hear what I'm playing. This really throws my singing off since I can't hear whether I'm on key or not. I have to wait until playback to see if i did well or not. Anybody know how to combat this? Thanks, Sean

    Please lend me your ears!

It sounds good. Do you have it to play at a low rez, because the bass drum sounds really punchy to me and the cymbals sound a little digital-y (like it is running at 64kbps). Good tune man, I want a singer!!!

    The ultimate technique.

It's gonna be funny when this guy gets someone who bites, and they actually get famous from his shit. Sometimes low budge is the best... However, selling your soul on eBay? And for a couple hundred grand no less? This guy HAS to be hot. Or a friggin retard. Or both. Or neither.

    Mixing like a pro

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. I have been experimenting all afternoon, with some results. I just need to realize i wont be getting that great of a sound until i get equipment that is better. I guess I'll start applying to some recording studios to fill my time (and tinker with their gear).

    Mixing against...

Does anyone know of a website or something that would have tracks to mix against? I'm not talking about mixing against a finished master, but dry tracks, to get the recording right (guitar, drum, bass, synth, etc.). I dunno, thought i would put it out there. sean

    Punkish, With Question

OK guys, I just updated the MP3, let me know how the mix sounds. I brought the vocals up, and brought mids up on just about everything (makes the mix sound cleaner). give me your feedback. Thanks so much, Sean www.soundclick.com/seanscogin Song - Stuck with MTV

    Mixing like a pro

Ok, when i listen to good, professional mixes, it sounds to me like the song is pushed back (sonically) like 1 foot away from the speakers. I don't know if that makes any sense to any of you, but when i listen to the stuff I mixed, it sounds like its right on top of the speakers. Does anyone...

    Punkish, With Question

Yeah, I've always had that problem. my voice sounds good in the middle, but i end up having to capo a guitar halfway up the neck. Anyway, I will pull the vox up tonight. It sounds great in the speakers I mixed them with (just RCA bookshelfs) but in headphones it sounds really bassy and muddy.
