    Feedback on my song

I dunno, seemed a lot like that first rap was still searching for what he was trying to say and how to say it, so the rap is a bit disjointed from the rest of the song. And it's very raw in comparison to the backing vocals which, by the way, have way too much reverb on them and are distant in...

    My Bass Sound

You can always use amp modelers and such until you get a dedicated bass DI. Save your nickels and dimes, man. I had one for a bit, and they are worth every penny, especially when you can't mic your amp...

    My Bass Sound

I would agree there, but not that low in the freq range. You'd be stepping on your kick drum there. I would boost around 250-300, but just a tad.

EZ Drummer - Have you used it?

Close mic it. You may be able to achieve that sorry ass sound Metallica got on Saint Anger.:laughings: No wonder they fired that assclown producer.

    Best interface sub-$500?

It sounds like you have all the bases covered as far as the setup. I take it you are going to be recording a live set, not doing a studio session? Firewire interfaces still outshine the usb counterparts. I'd check into that. Presonus Firestudio at Musician's Friend

    Feedback on my song

OK... Distortion. It's coming from the fact that you have the gain on the mic up too high, and it sounds like you are eating the mic. Works on stage, but in a recording, put the mic on a mic stand, put a pop filter on it about 6 to 8 inches from the mic, and stand about 6 to 8 inches away from...

    Overtime - feedback please

Needs more cowbell.... Serioulsy, I like the bass and everything fits well in the mix. I triple the sentiment on the vocals. Great performance, Gerry!

    My Bass Sound

Roll off some of the highs. It's a bit clicky. A good portion of that is the playing (slap tends to sound like that anyhow), but you can get rid of a lot of it by rolling off the highs (above 2000hz). Bass is a really messy instrument to record anyhow, and even the most skilled, level player...

Is Fostex Abandoning the US Recording Market?

Yeah, it's too bad. I will be looking in other directions when I get home and start recording again. My MR-8 got blown up when I let my nephew use it....

    Kind of a cross post...

I posted this in the Reaper forum, mostly because I need a specific answer to using Reaper with the Lexicon Omega or Alpha. I have an opportunity to pick one of the above up at a good price. It will be a huge learning curve for me, but I need something to get back into recording with since my...

    Lexicon Omega, Reaper and Win7

I was told there are compatibility issues with the Omega and Win7. Lexicon hasn't come out with Win7 drivers? Also, it's bundled with Cubase. Do you think I can run it with Reaper? Sorry, newbie questions. I have always been a stand-alone multitracker guy til now.

    Muddy Sounding Recordings!

"Muddy" and "far away" are two different things. Muddy tends to mean that you have too many instruments hogging the same frequency ranges. Solo a single instrument, then start bringing them in one at a time until the problem starts, and you will see which instruments are getting things muddy...

    Ok, here's a crazy question

Here's the plot: You record a song with a certain BPM, sayyyyyyy 125. Then you collab with someone, and the song is good, but you realize it would sound better at say, 85 BPM. So, you retrack, but the guy who did the guitar for you is no longer around, and you can't do it yourself. What you...

    Left Behind - remixed

It sounds good to me. Perhaps just a bit harsh, but not bad. As usual, the vocals are great, but I have a problem with the effect you put on the bridge vocals.... makes them hard to understand. Maybe it's just me.... :o
