It's not analog, but I have a TC Electronic M300 dual-engine processor. It has reverbs, delays, chorus, flange, etc. The price was right (about $300?) and, hey.... it's TC Electronic, so you know it's at least on the good side of decent.

We did our album through a certain amount of Behringer gear. 80% of the tracks were recorded through the UB2442-FX PRO mixer, with the other 20% (lead vocals) going through tube pre.
All guitar solos done with a V-amp, including the feedback during the intro of Unsaid.
Drum overheads -...
Okay.... killed practically all the EQ that existed in the track and that really seemed to open up the guitars. Raised kick drum a bit and nudged up the lead vox a wee bit.
I *think* I solved it. Hopefully I haven't added to the harshness that was alluded to.
Thoughts?

I know what you're getting at, and my room could surely use some work. It's not bad, though.
AFAIK, though, nearfield monitors with 6" drivers (Yorkville YSM1's) will never reproduce lower frequencies as fully as conventional stereo speakers. Part of the solution there, too, is continuing to...
Hey folks;
Thanks a lot for the listen and the input. I think my dillemma is becomming apparent. I've compressed the bass - not that much - and put a dip with modest bandwidth (Q=0.5-ish) right around 250. Nothing in the bass is boosted. My fear is that if I cut further, that my "somewhat...
Okay.... here is what I've wound up with. I think it is a lot better than the first version which appears in the mp3 player on our site at www.now-here-this.com, which got some pretty honest criticisms.
I've used a lot of the suggestions given so far. Thanks for those.
It's still not perfect -...
Tension = bad. End of story. If you are doing what he is telling you to do, and you are getting tension where you never had it before, find another teacher.
Tension -> nodes. Bad, bad, bad....
Singing - in any genre - should be relaxed if you want to avoid damage.

Funny, though.... the two songs pitched around in this thread are Photograph and Animal. Def Leppard had songs by those titles too. Just an observation...

I liked them up to and including Silver Side Up. Lately, they seem to have run out of ideas, so are re-hashing old ones, (hey, it worked for AC/DC for the past 20 years... and I love AC/DC), or coming up with bad ones. They're good solid musicians; they have a good sound; they can sing, and...
Or is this one better?
Thanks, Cheeky Monkey. The fact that it looks good to someone else who speaks French is encouraging. She (the translator) is quite fluent. You hit the nail on the head, though, as far as "good literal translation" and "how a Francophone would actually say it." It is this problem, I'd like to...
I've had *one* problem with Behringer gear. My UB2442FX-PRO mixer got a bad channel about a week out of the box. I took it back to my retailer. Since I had already registered myself as the owner with that serial number, they couldn't do an even exchange. My retailer gave me a loaner...
I had a singer I was recording whose voice sounded really harsh with my NT-1 (which is my main "go-to" vocal mic). I tried a few other mics. I even tried a kick drum mic. Harsh, harsh, and harsh some more.
That was the first session I have *ever* used an SM58 on vocals, as I find they...
Hey all;
As we complete our album, we have decided to include a French version of one of our songs. A friend of mine has translated it, and though I trust her judgement, I know that there are different "takes" on how to say something and exactly what it means.
I was just wondering if anything...
Anyone with any credibility probably doesn't post an ad looking for songs. They've probably got a room full of them that they'll never get to as it is.

As we've been collecting information, we've found that our options are far greater if we go up closer to a grand. Still, at that, we're obviously not entering Steinway Grand Piano territory. :D The advice that has been offered so far, and a call to Lt. Bob would certainly not go amiss in...
