    "Geordie" - acoustic folk

Nice song. I like your wife’s vocals. The mandolin(?) seems to pull this whole mix to the left and leaves it a bit unbalanced to my ears (could be to the right, as I’m listening on ear buds and I could very well have them in backwards, lol). Not quite sure how to fix it - maybe make it a...

    Tavern of the Terrible

I agree with most of the comments: bass, bg vox can both come up. A little too crushed dynamically, and a tad harsh to my ears. There’s a few high end frequencies that could stand to be tamed. Maybe try a notch eq filter and scan until you find it (them?). But overall nice work. Cute song...

    The Girl in the Light

That might be because I’m not much in vogue these days. Lol. ? Thanks for the listen.

    The Girl in the Light

Thanks for the listen and comments, Dobro. I actually pushed the bass a bit in this last mix. I thought it was a tad weak in previous versions. I’ll revisit, I guess.

    "Selkie" - Folk acoustic track

This is quite nice. Is it original? Kind of Americana. Gillian Welch arena. I'm fine with the mix as is. I might have spread some things a little wider, but it's all artistic choices. Good work. Edit: I took a second listen and I withdraw my comment about the spread.

    Cigarettes

As usual, unique and tasty. Agree that your guitar could come down a smidge. Talented guy, Tjarko.

    Headphone Mix test....

Pretty nice. Mix overall is good. Everything is clear and distinct. Maybe a little too much sibilance on the vocal in parts maybe. i like the song, which always helps. ?? FWIW, listening on earbuds.

    The Girl in the Light

Very rare original song for me. First I’ve ever posted I believe. Actually recorded awhile ago, but I reworked it recently. Be interested in the usual comments regarding mixing, mastering, etc., but also any comments about the song itself. Still a bit bashful about my songwriting talents (or...

Mary (What if the Eagles did a long trilogy suite) :D

Disclaimer: listening on an iPad with earbud… so take it for what it’s worth. Wasn’t crazy about the opening part of the trilogy. Got better with the 2nd section. A little too much high end there for my taste, mostly on the percussion. Nice harmonies. Catchy. 3rd section better than the...

    Higher

This is nice! (y) The vocals are stellar. The weaving of the l/r panning is great. Assume this is an original? Well done.

Ghost of Mississippi (Steel Drivers cover)

Quite nice. I'm a Chris Stapleton fan, so not really surprising I like it. :) Maybe give Heaven Sent a run sometime.

    David Crosby RIP

Thx. Appreciate the listen. Harmonies were fairly tricky for us in that one.

    David Crosby RIP

Thx. I’ll look into it. Any free video editing programs you’d suggest?

    David Crosby RIP

Thx RFR. We used to do a cover of Guennivere as well, which actually would have been more appropriate. Unfortunately we never recorded it. I do have a DVR of us singing it in someone’s living room with just an acoustic guitar. But no clue how to convert thst to something post-able.

    David Crosby RIP

In thinking about David Crosby, I figured I'd post our cover of a CSNY song from their Deja Vu album. This was recorded quite a bit ago, but remastered last year. Shout out to ChuckU and Acidrock/Cheesehead1 for bass guitar and harp respectively. Comments welcomed but not required. I've long...

Really struggling with acoustic guitar mixing

You have to pan the guitars. Take one at least 60% right and the other 60% left (although personally I'd go even further than that). I think that alone will clean this up quite a bit.

Every Little Beat of my Heart

This is nice. Tasty. Kinda Sade-esque. Initially I though there might be a little too much effects, but it grew on me as the song progressed. The ending might be a tad too extended. Excellent work.

    Hypnotized - Final mix -

Generally ok. Drums are a little too prominent imo. Vocals are a little obscured. I "think" they may be fighting for eq space with some of the guitars. Tasty take on the song.

Playing Back Midi through Roland TD-11 E Drums

i was able to do this in the past, but for some reason I can’t anymore. Still think it’s some kind of usb conflict. What I used to do was to do it one track at a time (tedious, I know). But I would mute all tracks except one - say snare drum. Play the midi snare to the Roland, and record the...

Playing Back Midi through Roland TD-11 E Drums

Separating the drum kit to separate tracks wasn’t actually my problem. My problem was in trying to play back the midi tracks through the TD11 so I could use and record its internal sounds. I never did get it resolved, so I ended up using software for the drum sounds. In the process I used a...
