    The Siefer Vs. Cloneboy Mix

I'm fascinated by the drama here... Is cat-eggs really the Seifer? Is Cloneboy really as self-absorbed as Seifer? Could their e-penes be more real than their worldly schlongs? Could we be more pathetic for even caring? Tune in next week to see the results!

    Anyone who has gone digital...

I have a couple of TASCAM Portastudios... that get regular use recording gigs and practices, but my demos are getting done multi-tracking with Digital Performer on my mac. I miss the tweaking sessions of the analog world, fussing with cables and processors in the mixing sessions, trying to...

Drum Set on a 414 wha wha what!?

Keep your ch. EQs level... and the trim up high, so to get a good signal to tape. Oh. And three things. 1 Mic placement 2 Mic placement 3 Mic Placement Which mics do you have? Are you going for stereo drums? Which 2 buss sub mixer are you using, and why?

Noise and a bag filled with broken glass bottles

You'll need to post an mp3... so we can diagnose your bunghole, er, your opus, I mean, well you know what I mean. What mic, where is it placed etc.?

    Are compressors overrated?

The music I like... is very dynamic. But even there, you'll find compression. I use it, but you're right, especially on drums and vocals, it is over-used.

    Popping Noise

Sounds like you are overloading your input... is it a mic input or line input on the soundcard?

Lady needs HELP! Tascam 488 cassette

Unless you have a soundcard with 8 Line Ins... you'll essentially be performing a mixdown to ProTools. You can put your mix on two tracks on the PC and go from there. I suppose you can transfer two tracks at a time from the TASCAM panned hard L/R, but getting alternate transfers to match up...

New Guy question - Tascam 424MKII and Behringer 1202 related

So, the 1202's Tape Out... is two RCAs, and you put an adapter for the 424's 1/4" ch, input? What about the chanell trim pot on the 424? All the way down? What kind of levels on the TASCAMs meters? Fader positions? This Behringer 1202 doesn't have a Line Out???

    D'oh!

I'm groovin' on the Dr.'s... March of the Penguins or whatever you're calling it. I think it's very detailed at 96 kHz but combined with your avatar may cause hypnosis.

    The 3630!

It is popular... to crap on the 3630. Why? Because it only costs about $90 and they all spent hundreds on a piece of gear that when over-used sounds like crap anyway. The 3630 does what I need it to do. I use the gate. A little comp on vocals. As a live guitar compresser. That's about it.

    noobie.... Few quick questions.

Why multiple tracks? Because you'll want to put the drums in stereo, and put down a bass line at the same time. It's tough to do a drum track while imagining the finished song in your head!

    XLR and 1/4

Yeah... hooking up balanced and un-balanced gear is a pain.
