Vocal "Auto double tracker" method or plugin exist?

Yup. The detune and deley gives a constant doubles vocal, but it's the minor variation in both of these that's needed - I think. Sometimes you can't, double track. Like when family visit from overseas, sing a track, then take off and you're left making a mix with a single vocal track... just as...

Vocal "Auto double tracker" method or plugin exist?

Hi all, If this topic has been done to death, apologies. (Please separate this question from the "How do I get my vocals to sound like M&M" posts.) Recently I discovered the wonder of double tracking vocals, with the obvious benefit being that shimmery and full chorused effect you get from...

Noisey Strat - Mods or new p'ups.

From the HS-2 blurb... "single-coil mode is not as noisy as a standard single-coil pickup." Not as noisey? So, not noiseless. Along with Greg L's comment, I'm beginning to see a pattern here. I've ordered some copper tape. I'll go throught the sheilding routine and see what comes out. Then...

Noisey Strat - Mods or new p'ups.

Mods? GuitarNuts.com - Shielding a Strat(tm) This looks like a time comsuming and messy job, but I'd go there if it worked. The Aluminium foil looks like a real pain in the a$s. Yeah, I've had humbuckers all my life, and have just got myself a plain strat. I'm loving the sound and...

Noisey Strat - Mods or new p'ups.

Hi Strat owners, Bought my Mesa Boogie Ta-15. Damn is that a nice upgrade from my blues Jr. I'm not going back. Just disappionted that my first test recording had buckets of noise from my strat :( So this is the next problem. I'm not going to ask about the tonal differences between stock...

What Should I buy? (Bass recording)

I never got fantastic results going direct into the interface, although it certainly did an adequate job. I got a better results using a Samsamp Bass DI pedal (or insert your product here) that seemed to make the sound more natural and offered tonnes of tone shaping options. Hope this helps. FM

Mixing volume -> hard on your ears -> hearing loss!

Hi all, Is it just me, or do you feel like your ears are getting hammered when you spend a few hours mixing? I can only mix for a finite amount of time before I lose the plot and it all starts sounding crap anyway, so I'm forced to take a break every 1/2 hour to an hour. I mix at about 80dB...

What techniques do you use to make your vocal recordings sound good?

This has been an awesome thread, perhaps more for me since I'm ready to take on this knowledge. Just finished a recording a song with one mic only (Rode NT-1A) , and was both male and female vocals in harmony. Thanks to this thread I plan to remove all the compression and EQ I've added to the...

singer sings consistently sharp - fix?

hey! My niece remember! LOL Thanks for your replies. Yes Lt Bob, it is *that* sharp, which I'm really surprised about. Consistency is freaky. Terminology? If I understand that 100c makes up one semitone (ie a full jump to the next available note in our western temperament) then...

singer sings consistently sharp - fix?

Hi all, I'm having fun in the studio with my niece who is in town. I got her to sing a song because she sings very well and I'm amazed to discover that she is singing 40c sharp throughout the whole song! A blanket pitch shift of 40c flatter and she's spot on in tune. Looking for help here: is...

Open back cabs - just a mount for the speaker or tone shaping?

Hi all, I'll just ask this straight up. I can either buy a mesa 1 x 12 open back cab, or just buy the speaker (Celestion Black shadow MC-90 ) for a lot less money and put it in my old Blues Jr open back cab. Anyone want to predict how much difference in sound there will be between these two...

Amp head - Send/return effects for home recording

Great info guys. Thank you all. SomeGeezer, awesome. Some setups there I never knew you could do with effects send and return. I'm currently stalking a Mesa Boogie TA-15 that I've fallen in love with. No FX Send/Receive, but I think that's not a problem for my situation... and from what I read...

Amp head - Send/return effects for home recording

Hi guys, Newbie question on guitar amp send/return effects here. I'm thinking seriously about buying a new guitar amp. The choice of two Mesa heads, one has an effects send/receive loop and the other doesn't. Now, I'm not a big pedal user. It'll be just guitar -> amp for most of the time...

    Compression before of after recording

Hi all, I've been recording a clean Strat sound and personally I like the sound when compression is added - quite a bit actually. Assuming that the quality of equipment that's doing the compressing is equal, is there any difference in using a compressor pedal in your effects chain to applying...

Bass recording - DI, Sansamp Bass DI

Right. Sounds like you've recorded with many methods. So, where will the DI let me down? Will it be lacking compared to using a preamp?

Bass recording - DI, Sansamp Bass DI

HI all, I'm looking at tracking a better bass sound. Currently, I've been going from Bass -> POD XT -> soundcard which sounded ordinary until I used the POD XT to EQ and slightly compress to get what I think is a "natural" sound. But I'm sure the POD XT is really sucking some of the life out...

    How's my technique?

Technique? Dunno. But I can point out some obvious weak points that may improve your playing. 1. Practice with a metronome. Fast runs and tapping sounds great (If you're into that kind of thing) as long as the notes are in time. It starts to sound a bit average when the timing suffers. Your...

Room mic vs applying a Room reverb

No, sorry. As soon as I got the taste of that simplicity I lost interest very quickly in a room mic. For my purposes, the "fake" one will be just fine. It's an impulse of a guitar cabinet room and it's just give a nice depth to a flat close mic sound. Very happy :) I never realize how touchy...
