    Why are Bridges not straight

Why are bridges not parallel with the fret wires. but the intonation is correct? Shouldn't intonation and scale length be the same for a high E and a low E. As far as I know, the 12th fret should be exactly 1/2 of the scale length. My SG has a 24 1/2 scale length and the intonation is dead on...

    Lace pickups in 84?

I have a 94 strat with them on. Personally, I like them. They are very clean and also very colorless. Clapton uses them. Go play something with them on, that's the only way you will be able to tell if you like them.

    The difference in Fender Strats???

Basically, the MIM strats are the best value, in my opinion. But if you have the money, the USA strats are worth it. I have 3 strats, a plus, a deluxe and a custom shop. They are all very different in sound, and the way they play. You just have go play them and listen to them, it's the only way...

    I love guitar center thread

So how does that differ from someone starting a thread on this board, telling people how much GC sucks and to never shop there. It's all the same, damage the competition so that my store sells more. You guys really need to take a business ethics course.

    I love guitar center thread

Our GC opened about 2 years ago. I have always got good service and found there products similar in quality to the other 5 guitar stores in our area. I can't believe that you all think that they make deals for substandard products. I can go to any guitar store and find an axe that isn't set up...

    Help Fixing an acoustic Guitar?!?!

Ok, so we were drinking last night.... Actually, the only way is to get some similar wood, cut out a small piece, glue it in, sand it and restain it. It's not really something you want to do unless you have done it before. If you want it fixed, take it to someone who does woodwork, they can...

    Help Fixing an acoustic Guitar?!?!

Bondo dude. If you use a lot of hardener, it comes out brown so you don't have to paint it.

    Howard Rosen Promotions

Has anyone heard of Howard Rosen Promotions in California. He wants to promote a friend of mine and I am looking for opinions, stories or whatever. If anyone out here has dealt with them, let me know what your experiences are. I have searched the net and all I can find are positives on him which...

    anyone else hate pedals?

Well, I have been playing for 30 years or so. At this point, I think I have bought just about every new gaget, box, pedal or whatever to improve my sounds. I can tell you that nothing sounds better than a good tube amp. The only thing I use with it is a BBE Maximiser, but I also have a Marshall...

    Mandolin Players

Does anyone out there play a mandolin? Can you suggest any songs? The only one I can recall is a Led Zep song "Battle of Evermore". Any sites or info on a mandolin would be helpful. I have a chord chart and the Zep tab. Mainly, I will be using it for filling in some of my songs, but I am...

    Guitar tone.

One thing here, if you want a very heavy, chuncky, metal sound, then scoop your mid ranges out.

What was the first song you learned to play?

For those of you who sing while you play, was the first song that you could sing and play, the same as the first you learned. For me it was, I found that interesting.

    taylor 300 or 500 series?

I have an 815 and an 855. They sound really good mic'd up. I will have to say that I do think the Martin's sound slightly better, but I just don't like the way the Martins play. It's all your personal preference, so you should go play them both. Something will sing out to you.

So what is required in any serious guitar collection

Now I like that list. I forgot to add in the accoustics, but they are definitely needed in any collection. I don't know if the Rick is necessary, but the Tele is something I am considering. I have not found one that I like to play yet, and I won't buy something I don't play. Here is my current...
