Crop Circles with Nick and Dave

The bed is pretty good but the melody in verse one is really stilted - probably as a result of the metre and rhyming scheme but the discomfort is clear in the voice.

We'll Keep the Stars - is it done?

Cool song - I think the revision paid dividends.

    Blippity Blop

Retro meets dubstep maybe. I don't mind the older patches at all. The constant panning is tiring though.

We'll Keep the Stars - is it done?

Lovely song Matcham, The 1st phrase has a sense of distance to it - that comes in every now and then elsewhere. I like the effect - gives a sense of fragility that matches the lyric. Nice organ line/swells in the background. I note you've tamed the hiccough. I'm not sure about the harmonica -...

    Spanish Wings

I like the song but I'm not keen on the "jangle" - it doesn't really jangle - the louder guitar is a little irritating but I like the song as I said.

    T. L. G.

Wig, 4 + years is a little while. Your keyboard parts are much more subtle now - new instrument or newer FX? I like it more than the track that follows. I'm a fan of tone poems and atonalism though.

    When is MP3 loss detectable?

It does depend, quite a bit, on the encoder. LAME 3 is popular and pretty good. There are a range of them out there though. Playback machine matters almost as much as does the final conversion to air. Personally I like to use .wav or .FLAC for my D.A.P. but if I haven't an option I'll use MP3...

    March

Bulls, I love the rhythm section and the beefiness. The guitar for the 1st 50 seconds or so is too inconsistent across the beat - nothing that I could get a handle on - sometimes before sometimes after and occasionally on. I love the noise attack of the treatments on guitar. Your stuff is...

Resolution of sound decreases by pulling down faders .....is there any such concept ?

Home recording is surrounded and infiltrated by myths that become legends. Knowledge of maths helps with understanding but in the end those without the maths need to rely on experience and/or someone they trust. At least the OP had somewhere to ask the Q though it wasn't pressing enough a matter...

    Mastering engineer conning me?

No, he isn't. Why don't you ask him to send you an email explaining the reasons for his assertion.

    "Heaven"

I don't know about rating systems but if the above is added to the bottom of the sequence below the difference between evolution & devolution might become apparent or even more debatable. "Mend & Make Do", the WWII propaganda line that was so successful in the U.K., is commendable in most...

    Recluse Testament

I pulled this into Reaper and applied ReaEQ's Mud Free preset and it cleaned up a lot of the wooliness but that left the drum pattern pretty naked and, as mentioned, it's quite limited in that area. The less wooly bass accentuates whatever FX have been added to it - an 80s chorus or similar. If...

In My Car - In Key?

Nice one Snowy! Ouchy, ouchy, wah wah, etc. I take it as a positive thing that you a) didn't listen for more than a minute and b) don't like my work. I'd have been disappointed if you'd liked anything by Pygmy Beat and my world order would have been shaken if you'd been honest enough to have...

In My Car - In Key?

The closest musical parallel would be Wreckless Eric though his Basher produced tracks would be more rhythm section heavy and his lyrics were usually ironic as were the musical "touches".

BUMMER, My grate idea is gone - I was pipped at the post. I must admit it's sweet but they had the de-esser set too hard and the SSSS is missing form the critical line.

NJ? Notrightwithregardtocymblals Johnny? Ah, punk - different things on different continents. I have bootlegs unknown to bootleggers. My mum rang Santa but because I wasn't an elf I wasn't allowed to take an apprenticeship in his workshop. New York Dolls - cool band - some great stuff before...
