I put on a set of rotosounds last time i changed strings and have to say they seem to keep their brightness a lot longer than others i have tried. Up until now ive mainly used Stadium Elites which seem to be less bright but still have a nice punchy sound for a while.

Vease, i was like your colleague, i used to "play" in a band. Very occasionally when I could get everyone together. And then keep them focused enough to practice for more than an hour. The problem is banding together with people who arent into it in quite the same way. Sure they all liked music...

In my experience nickel strings (well bass strings at any rate) do indeed reduce the finger noise... I however prefer steel strings. They seem to have a better edge to the sound.

Well if the two newly recorded tracks on the Sabbath Reunion live CD are anything to go by and the Ozzy/Iommi collaboration on Iommi's solo album it should hopefully be a little of the ol' Sabbath Magic. Im looking forward to the prospect immensely!

I use a Zoom BFX-708 which is quite a nice all rounder. You can edit all the parameters on the patches for custom effects and it has some limited amp modelling. One of the best things about it is the expression pedal which can be set to control different parameters (volume, distortion etc etc)...

I have a Morley wah but to be honest dont use it a whole heckuva lot. Its got a sorta squelchy sound and seems to work better in the upper registers than in the low low bass realms and is really quite a pleasing sound but I have yet to use it for anything other than playing Cliff Burton bass...
