    Death metal mixing tips?

Turn down the cymbals, find a beefier snare sample, and try a multiband compressor on the 2-bus with a smiley face type preset, then adjust to your liking from there. the bass sounds a little too throaty in the 750 hz region, perhaps tame that a bit.

    Perpetual Progressive....your thoughts?

Probably due to the aforementioned over-compression, but the bottom end is very loose. perhaps roll off some low from your guitar sound....or try dipping out some 95 hz.

    Acoustic/afro drum song

Though i do disagree respectfully. I can appreciate your tastes. And no this project does not incorporate sub type bass other than the 60 hz sine driving the bottom of the Cajon, and the occasional udu. I feel like you think the "Mix" is good. Which is the sole purpose for the post. This being...

Cymbals could come up. Close mics on the drums could come down. Guitrs could be a tad brighter. The rest is good.

Need a few sets of ears on this.

Its 60% mics, and 40% triggers on the drums. The guitars were a Marshall Mode4 cab with a Mesa Dual rec. Miced with an I5 on a bias at the cone then eq'd a bit with an SSL plug in. The bass was DI'd then ran through a sansamp pedal, a compressor, an overdrive pedal, The Ren bass plug-in to add...

A really good drummer. (its the drummer from Journey/Ozzy's son) (no pressure! yikes!) Mxl 604's for overheads, Shure pg81's for ride/hh mics, 57 on snare, 421's on toms, D6 on kick. Triggered with Steven Slate samples. Its 60% real drums, 40% triggers.
