    Reduced Volume when rendering

So here is what I have found - some of which is part of the learning process, some of which was a silly error on my part, but I will share in hopes that it will help someone else. Problem one, and the main point of my confusion - I had two discs that I was using as a reference, BOTH of which...

    Monitor Cables

I am closing in on completing my home studio - I just purchased my monitors and was curious what a decent choice of signal cables to the monitors would be? I have a Tascam us1800, so the output has to be 1/4", using Yamaha HSM50 monitors (which have a 1/4' or xlr input) - I hate to ask such a...

    Gibson Pickups

To add to this - a lot depends on what type of music you are playing, and what amp you intend on using for your "main" amp if you are really looking to perfect your tone. That being said - 57 Classics are very very popular and for good reason - smooth, versatile, and punchy - I currently had...

    Monitor Shopping - suggestions needed

I am now looking into monitors - I have a reasonably small room, and 95% of all that I record in there will not be bass heavy (mostly solo and duo guitar tracks) - I am looking into monitors. I am leaning very heavily towards the Yamaha HS50, and I have also checked out the KRK (5s and 6s) -...

    Reduced Volume when rendering

I am still looking very hard into operator error - just trying to find out what I am missing.

    gls 57

I have 3 of them, as well as a 58 from GLS - I also have the Shure SM57 to compare to - In a live setting, I can tell no difference at all in the mics (whether it be on a guitar cabinet, or snare drum) and I compared the 58 to the Shure in a Church at one time, and again, no difference...

    Reduced Volume when rendering

Thanks for the replies - The rendered file when opened back up in Reaper is quieter than the original (peaking more in the -6 range or so) - the reference disc(s) I use are the same volume as my mix when loaded into reaper, but once the WAV is burned to a CD, it is a good bit softer than the...

    Reduced Volume when rendering

Peaking right in the -2 range - Media player is definitely quieter, burned it to a CD and tried it in a couple different players and still much quieter than the original or any other reference disc I have tried.

    Reduced Volume when rendering

Well, I am slowly getting used to Reaper - new question - when rendering to a WAV file, my volume is greatly reduced from what it was before - I have checked and double checked all settings in Media Player when I play it back, and volumes are at max - I also burned to a CD and compared it to a...

reaper & tascam 1800 input question

I have one more question - using reaper with tascam 1800 - I cannot seem to record with any other channel than my #1 channel on the 1800 - how do I set up where all channels on the 1800 are active going into reaper? Thanks

    Latency

I apologize if this has been discussed, but could not find it. What is the best method to get rid of latency in reaper? I am using a Tascam US1800 - Windows 7 - I need to be able to play back one track and stay with it when recording the next. Thanks

    Interface help!!!

I have really been looking into the Tascam. Next question.. I know the Focusrite supposedly had good preamps, is the Tascam just as good or better? I like the idea of having enough channels to grow on in the future if need be, and do not mind going on up a bit in price to do what I need to. I...

    Interface help!!!

I have posted in a couple of different places and need help. I am at a crossroads - I just purchased the M Audio Mobile-Pre with Pro Tools MP9. While I am very happy with the Pro Tools, I am less than impressed with the Mobile Pre. Question is this.. Do I stick with M Audio, due to the great...

    Starting over - suggestions needed

I am just getting into more home recording, and I am giong to start at ground zero again. I am very happy with Pro Tools, and I am reasonably familiar with it but here is my question: I am not looking to rival any pro studio, I just want to get as clean as I can and as quiet as I can on what I...

    Pre Amp Question..

I have the Mobile Pre. Honestly really beginning to think I pretty much got what I paid for..I do have the option to send it back at least if it does not work out.

    Pre Amp Question..

Apologies for lack of clear information. The source I am using where I can raise the gain is a Roland Cube 60 guitar amp using the record out. I am raising the output of the amp considerably (like half way to full volume, 12:00 position) and lowering the M Box gain (about the 9:00 position) to...

    Pre Amp Question..

I had wondered the same thing about the M Box - when you get enough gain to show the proper level on Pro Tools, I have some hiss, and more of an unidentified electronic type white noise. I have downloaded the newest driver, moved the M Box, experimented with all types of gain settings. Also have...

    Pre Amp Question..

So I posted in a previous post about noise I was having with M Box - I can roll the gain down on the M Box and of course the noise goes away. I have experimented reising the gain of my source, and I get a nice clean recording with no noise. My question is this: Am I correct in thinking I should...

Computer Noise with M Audio - need help

I have set up my M Audio bundle with Pro Tools MP9 (windows 7) -- I am very pleased with the record quality for my needs, but I am having noise issues. It seems to vary somewhat with the computer functions, it is a low level sound very similar to a vacuum cleaner, only much quieter, if this...
