I will look into that also, and thanks! I am not looking for any type of distortion - what I am after is this: Most of what I am recording is Chet Atkins type music. There is a good bit of difference in the "pat" of the thumb going through solid state vs. tubes. (if that makes any sense at all...
And all of the above is the information that I want and need . The home recording thing is new to me, so I appreciate the help - also, I am in the US (someone else had asked)
If need be wouldnt mind going $200-$300, if that will get me one. Just needing one channel (and that is if that is realisitc, I have seed the small ART ones for cheap, just not sure about them because they are so inexpensive..)
Could possibly be tube related also, I think you are on the right track. Fender amps are great, but somewhat delicate at times (the never ones) - none the less, I still prefer them over everything else I have for tone, whatever style playing it may be.
I am looking into Tube Preamps, and I only need single channel. I sometimes record direct guitar via the recording out on a Roland Cube (going into Tascam US1800), and though the tone is very good for what I need, I want to add a touch of natural tube warmth/compression. I am sure I will use...
Glad you found it! The tube dampers should help for sure. Unfortunately this is a slight drawback to the combo amps that we love where the tubes sit so close to the speaker. Not sure what brand of tubes are currently in the amp, but I will take a guess and say Groove Tubes. Though I really like...
Also check the tubes themselves - I have had on more than one occasion a tube rattle, which sounds much like metal "jingling" - this is not uncommon in combo amps, especially Fenders. The inside of one or more tubes will rattle and cause exactly what you are saying. The best way to troubleshoot...
I have not had any pop issues, however I have read where if you try to use it at the end of an effects chain or something where higher gain is feeding it, (like when routing a single signal chain to multiple amps via the switcher) it will pop, as will any switching device. The cables are a...
I am open for all the help I can get! I am very new at the whole home recording thing, but I am having fun with it. Most of what I will be doing is guitar, with mild bass and drums (mostly Chet Atkins / Merle Travis type stuff) - I have great sources going in, and so far have been happy with the...
I do not have a USB 3.0 port, but will definitely try another cable. This gives me some more areas to look at. Thanks for the reply and the help. I will post results after I change a couple of things.
I have heard very many mixed reviews on this, but most have came from very reputable guitar techs who say "no" - back in the day it was used more for easier glide on the strings, and to help prevent them from premature rust. It it not entirely fretboard friendly (on some materials), and there...
Do the acoustic guitars all have preamps in them with a volume control? if so, the best solution would be to go the dual a/b box route as someone suggested, you should be able to get a desireable level from the keys with the volume on the keys itself, if you do not, I would run the keys through...
The first time I did reboot the computer as well. The second time I only did the 1800 in an effort to try to narrow down the root of the problem. Not really a huge deal, but just want to see if it is a common thing, or possibly an issue with the unit. Other than this I am very very pleased with...
I have been using the 1800 for a bit now, and overall am very pleased for what I need it for. Question is this: yesterday, had been recording for a good while, and then the unit starts to give me a static type sound, that was not constant, but cycling in and out - did this both on playback and...

well, at what ever rate, they are louder to my obviously untrained ears than my others, so whatever means caused this difference, the outcome is the same......
