Okay then, listen to the B1 on jazz guitar

Nice sound. It's not very indicative of its quality though, sounds like the kinda thing that anything would sound good picking up. Maybe I can use this to post some of my acoustic guitar and vocals? :D

    Samson/Nady?

OK well you've got two fairly decent condensors, there are several options of what you could do: a) Use them on kick and snare respectively, and buy a pair of MXL 603's, Oktava MK012's for overheads b) Buy a second B1 and use them both as overheads c) Work out another arrangement (could get a...

    Samson/Nady?

As far as I know, not the place to go. What two mics do you already have? We can use them and suggest other mics to complement what you have.

    Need some advice buying mics

OK. Well I think whatever you get will do you well on acoustic guitar. In terms of what to use, small cardioid or omni would suit you fine, but I don't think they are CERTAIN. You'll definately want a stereo recording, so two similar mics is important. I'm gonna stick my head out: Lynx22...

    Need some advice buying mics

Another question: Will you be wanting to use the mics for ANYTHING else other than piano? Vocals, guitar, wind instruments? Is it solely piano or just the priority is piano? I think we'll get some suggestions soon :)

    What's your favorite vocal mic?

Well for me its the Studio Projects B1. You either love it or hate it, and I love it because quite frankly, it makes my voice sound... like my voice. I don't feel I need much colouring to my voice, so it's pretty good for me. However, there's almost no reason for me to post this as you're...

    The Best Way to Learn

Haha What child of 11 would be doing GCSE's? :D I'll think of myself as a musician first and student second. Also, I'm 15.... probably 3/4 your age (thats gotta be a good guess). My GCSE's are going OK I guess. I mean in my mocks I got 3 A*, 6 A's and 1 B, so I'm not gonna fail any of them...

    B1 vs ECM8000 - Cheap overheads

    B1 vs ECM8000 - Cheap overheads

Sensible choice. You'll find they'll work in many situations :)

    B1 vs ECM8000 - Cheap overheads

Digital Village isn't too bad for Oktava's. Mk-012 is £90, dunno if thats your kinda price range. B1's would do a nice job though.

Most effective way to mix down?

Damn :( Thought I could get away without making myself look stupid :D Basically, it was obviously some problem with the bit rate in Cakewalk. I don't think those early versions (Pro Audio 8) can handle exporting 24bit files, so I mixed it down into a stereo track at 16bit, and then exported...

Most effective way to mix down?

Master fader is not changed, still at 0db. Anyway, I'm afraid I've just sorted it out, so I'm sorry for this thread now! :)
