    Moving beyond the PODXT?

Hey, thanks for the tip, I'll go and check that out. I've seen a similar product from Hughes and Kettner... My friend swears by his ADA Microcab, which I thought would be a pre-historic POD, but perhaps the POD tries to be all things to everyone...

    Moving beyond the PODXT?

Thanks for the replies thus far... Codmate: I have a Tech21 Trademark 10, which is a 10-watt "recording" amp. I like it, but there are times, late in the evening, when that is too loud. So, I end up just using its direct out, which is a Sansamp GT-2 circuit. Etnoziroh... Thanks! those are...

    Moving beyond the PODXT?

I am pleased with my PODXT in many ways and appreciate the tones/options it gives me for silent home recording. However, for some tones, it just doesn't cut it and I realize that. My friend uses an ADA Microcab for his tone for recording and some of his sounds beat the crap out of the PODXT...

NOTE: The best recording advice ever

Man don't I know it - the hr.com/bbs is almost like a form of G.A.S., I've spent more time in here over the last several years (I lurk more than post) than I have actually recording. Music and recording are just involved subjects that it can get very consuming just to ponder the details...

    Panning Guitar Distortion tracks

Thanks for the input. I guess I was aiming to try recording both simultaneously with an A/B splitter. This seems to be what the thread is amount (kind of). It sounds like I'll have some delay to compensate for. The Trademark 10 has a SansAmp direct circuit in it, so perhaps going direct out...

    Dongle Crack for SX 2

Hi Jay, Interesting points... I think your only beef is with Presonous. Bundled software is old-hat and the bundles are always negotiated with the hardware manufacturer as a "value-added" piece to contribute to, as you point out, the marketing of the product.

Which bass for recording that modern deep tone all rockers use today? (Nickelback...)

Like others have said, realize that most of what you want comes from how the bass was recorded, mixed and mastered and not entirely the bass itself. It is unlikely, unfortunatly, that any shortcut to that sound exists. It is said that you "feel" bass mostly at the 80 Hz and below.

Huge influx of idiots to the forum? or just me?

Hey noisewreck, I agree that there are collagists who have a keen eye, artistic gift and God-given talent - no question. I also realize that software is a tool that requires some skill and discipline to be adept. However, I stand by my assertions that, as in your case of piano lessons, those...

Huge influx of idiots to the forum? or just me?

I think you have read what you want to see in my post and not what I've written. Those who make art are often using the inspiration they've found from others. However, the sample-based artists are literally pasting together found (and sometimes further modified) peices rather than...

Huge influx of idiots to the forum? or just me?

On art... The Hip-hop/Rap/what-have-you crowd are largely collage artists (in this sense: http://www.collageart.org/links/) as they are combining and mutating found parts to build up a new statement. There is both a talent and art in this that works well where structural repetition is high...

Huge influx of idiots to the forum? or just me?

To riff on your theme, The gear/vintage/toob-only high-falutin' snobbery always gets me too. HOME recording.com. What this implies to me is: "I am a hobbyist/amatuer with not too much scratch and I wanna learn how to record my toons." However, this site is a good one and most folks are helpful.

    Vernon Reid

Hendrix was relegated to "chitlin boogaloo-in" until he hit London and became an export back to his own country. No matter WHAT Fishbone did to satisfy their White(Yellow?) "mazzas" at Sony, they really coundn't ever be white enough for them. We'll let alone the pressure a black artist gets...
