I am using a delta 44 card for AD (never thought i would use the spdif). I find the 4 channels enough because its mainly guitars vox and light percussion. My main goals are to improve the basic recorded sounds im getting and have the oportunity to run a two overhead, snare and then triggered...
Well heres my situation... i record with SP B1, SM57 and Berry C-2's into a Audiobuddy. Most of my recording only requires 1 channel except when im tracking drums (not very often). I would like a 3rd channel of pre and these seem to be the recomended options in this price range. Which one?

I like your style, its like Ratatat.
Listening to New Start:
I reckon you should double track all the guitars (make sure there perfect) and then mix them to sound great(good eqing and nice bit o compression). then your snare needs to be louder, and faker :)
I dont think you should put vocals...
right, heres what i suggest:
Do u have just a kick drum track? try boosting at about 5khz to make it click a bit and cut at 200hz. If its too awful use it to trigger a sample.
Low cut the guitars quite high and cut some at 200ish hz. the left guitar needs to be louder in relation to the right...
heres my attempt, havent played with reverbs yet just trying to get the basics down

I have been looking at the new cubase and have noticed the control room mixer function. I dont really want to upgrade as sx2 is good enough for me but i was wondering if there was a way to create different mixes for different outputs in sx2. I have a delta 44 which gives me 4 outputs and im...
shakiras latest song... hips dont lie ? something like that
well the bit where it it goes "im on tonight my hips dont lie" completely reaks of it  But it sounds cool in that context.
Basically the best way to hear it is to use the program (try the demo) for a day or so and then you...
okay i listened to your tracks and i agree with others comments. The main thing i want to chime in on is midi instruments/synths. Generally without alot of work it wont sound real, and by working with a real celloist you can write a convincing and interesting part that suits the instrument. Just...
i like it, it has a straylight run feel to it (the piano and snare rolls).
it sounds realy well mixed to my ears. i agree with the male backing vocals comments, just a tad louder
Things that lead to a good recorded sound (in order of importance):
Source - I used to ahve an encore and it sounded awful, try and borrow a friends guitar and see if it sounds better.
Room + Microphone Placement - have you tried different micing positions?
Microphone - You should be okay...
say that the parts are out of time, or make up that you did something wrong.
Or explain to them what youve said to us, im sure they wont mind too much :)
