    Acoustic Treatment

If you're planning to remove it soon I wouldn't use adhesive sprays... Buy some velcro with an adhesive back and stick it to the auralex and the wall. I've found a couple of 1"x 4" sticks will hold a 2'X4' peice of 2 inch foam in place on a wall and 3 pieces will hold it to the ceiling. I might...

Where's the best deal on "real" audio acoustic treatment?

PCHORMAN: Sure it makes a difference.. any foil or paper you put on, or leave on, will act as a reflector of certain frequencies, and will change the absorbtive quality of the insulation. As an example, think about what it would sound like if you covered all that insulation in your rehearsal...

What other Great Value Mic's are there?

I own(ed) a few of the mics that seem to be hot for home studio guys on this list: the Studio Projects C1, the Oktava MC012, and the AKG C1000 I've found the C1 is pretty much all of what everyone says on this list and an exceptional value in the large diaphram dept. Where's the best deal on "real" audio acoustic treatment?

Lakin: Regarding Knauf rigid fiberglass insulation- I have used it recently to build a number of tube bass traps for my control room and vocal booth. The bass traps are outstanding, and I highly recommend them for managing the acoustics in your room. (Particularly if you have excess low bass...

Basement Studio Humidity + Air Quality

Re: just a thought No sump or drain in the basement. And of course, it's a project/private studio space (owned by a friend) , so I hope to spend as little as possible. If moisture is indeed an ongoing problem here, I'll probably bail. ( out, that is!) On the positive side: I'm looking...

Basement Studio Humidity + Air Quality

    >> So this would mean removing the dirt aound the foundation and putting up a layer of fiberglass board insulation against the foundation- yes? And this will act as a: vapor/water barrier ?, temperature barrier ?, or both? Obviously, I can't do this to the floor... The studio has been...

Basement Studio Humidity + Air Quality

I'm moving my gear into an existing basement studio space. It's been used as a recording space before and is pretty much good to go. It does however have some of the usual basement dampness, and not much airflow with just one casement window in this soundproofed and relatively airtight space...

    Microphones- Care and feeding

1- how do you guys treat your microphones, in terms of keeping them? In mic closets? On stands with dust covers? Any humidity treatments? Just wondering what everyone's methods are and any general do's or don'ts. 2- I've also read things like: wind can actually damage a large diaphram...
