    Wierd instrumental song

Thanks Daren. The bass sound is my Ibanez SRX-500 bass which has active electronics, played with a pick, and recorded DI through a Brent Averil 312a mic pre. In the mix, I compressed it just a bit with the PSP vintage warmer, which also added a little grit to the sound. I also added a bit of...

    Wierd instrumental song

HAHA...that sounds like a good idea for a collaboration track! Best thing since the political death metal polka ballad. What the hell happened to that anyway? Anybody?

Thanks alot elcholo, I really appreciate the comments. Honestly, I never thought about Bungle while I was doing this - maybe I should have and I would have had some better ideas :D.

Ok, almost done (Situation with vox)

I think that first of all, the snare and kick need alot more high end. Also the guitars, they're really dark for this style of song. I expect them to be alot brighter and crisp. I think what makes it sound off is that the vocals are fairly bright and up front and everything else is pretty dark...

    Atomicburn

Very interesting tune, I enjoyed listening. I rather agree with elcholo's suggestions concerning the mix. Thanks for sharing.

    Wierd instrumental song

Thanks Greg. I'm noticing that too about the bass. I never can pick up on that in my place. One of these days I'll treat that damn room. And concerning the busy drums....hell I was starting to put a ridiculous fill in at like every other bar. I can get carried away with DFHS. Let's just say I...

Miking Techniques For A Jsx 2X12

Just stick a '57 in front of the speaker. It's fizzy in the middle and dark on the edges so just pick the area in between those two extremes that you like the best. Pull it back a little for a slightly brighter sound with less oomph. Stick it right up on the grille for maximum "balls". Lots of...

    devin townsend sounds?

Probably a fair amount of delay with some compression and a good eq adjustment. :p Sorry, couldn't resist. I don't know the particular sound you're talking about, but I know that Heavy Devy is notorious for layering guitars to the point of absurdity. It's kind of like if t-shirt guy got into...

    Gibson is nuts!

I wonder, were they inspired by this waste of wood?

    Gibson is nuts!

It looks like it could be conveniently shoved right up the ass of any numbnut dumb enough to buy one!

    Drum replacement?

I would imagine there is a plugin that will create midi notes alligned to the transients of an audio track. I use Sonar and it has a built in feature for doing it. I can't point you to one though...

    megaphone effect

I just found this song on Amazon. Actually it sounds like there is just some slapback echo on there or something like that.

    megaphone effect

Myriad is right, often times such effects are achieved by restricting the vocals to a narrow frequency range with EQ. If you've got a link I'll check out the song. I don't have any Iggy Pop handy. :D

    megaphone effect

Another option would be to get a megaphone.
