Thanks PaP. That is exactly what I was after...noisy amps. And since that hum is pretty consistent when guitars are muted, etc then I suppose it really should work. I am going to play around with it. Good tip.

Yah. And its not because it is a cheap mic...I like cheap mics. I just don't like sound of nady mics. I did use a nady wireless system for a while when I was playing it clubs. It kind of sucked too. :) But, hey...use whats avaliable to you I guess! Rock on.

Thanks for that little tutorial, Pap. I must admit I have been fumbling around with CEP's noise reduction settings for a while and couldnt get things quite right. Would this work on a noisy mic? Meaning...could you record some silence...then after recording a track go back and use that silence...

And a coffee pot.

After looking at your post again... You will need to go and buy the newer version of Cool Edit. They are not going to let you upgrade a copy that was 'given' to you. Good news is that you will get to upgrade to 2.0 free now if you buy the latest version that is out now.

Shack, Try swapping the 58 and 57. Put the 57 as an overhead and place it more to the non-snare side of the kit. Not directly in the middle. Now, put the 58 (with the top off) on the snare. Where are you sticking the ev as far as the kick is concerned? Put it in the damn kick drum. Another few...

My gawd. I hope most of this is sarcasm. I mix completetly dry. I dont start adding fx until the end and then I do it sparingly. My thought has always been...make the shit sound good going in. You know, in the first place. I hate producers/engineers that overwet everything. Dont use...
