    OB-8 or P-5?

That right there is half the fun of it. No. Every so often somebody finds a huge bunch of them sitting in the corner of a warehouse though. Believe it or not but $50 is a normal price these days  Good thing about the sockets! :D sweet I can't wait to hear it.

    OB-8 or P-5?

Oh yeah forgot something. If you want the P5 sound without going broke buying one look for the Prophet 600. I owned one for years. Does 90% of the sounds the P5 does for about half the money - and they all had Midi.

    OB-8 or P-5?

Oh hey dude! Nice to see you around again :) Alls well on my end, I am getting some interesting repair work lately and have been keeping busy on overhauling my mixer (look for RX-7 Update in Analog Only area). Ok so here we go - Things the P5 has the OB-8 doesn't... Poly-Mod section: Allows you...

    OB-8 or P-5?

Internally, both of these instruments are more or less the same because they both use Curtis chips in their sound engine. The OB does give you the option to use either 2 or 4 pole filter responses though unlike the Prophet so it can do a wider variety of sounds.

    Bass is weak

Holy Cow! That back door in the room leads to an 8' X 5' storage/laundry room. When I open that door I notice a remarkable improvement in the bass response at my listening position. And when I stand on my chair I don't hear that bass buildup near the ceiling anymore. Maybe I have found the...

    micing a metal shed

Yuck nevermind the berry. I just got done listening to samples of the berry comparing them with Naiant MSH something-or-other. Naiant may be an interesting one to try. MsHillarious which of the Naiant models would be best for me?

    micing a metal shed

This is a very interesting idea.... Who makes these? ACM-4 could be interesting - I think I will give that a shot out of curiousity  What about the Behringer ECM8000? I heard it's noisy but in this application I'm sure environmental noise will swamp any self-noise.

Joining the club - thanks for helping

Same for me. It was cool little sucker too. I used to crank the tape speed up with the pitch control to try and get better recordings :D That machine really liked those old Sony Cro2 tapes in the white ceramic shell. Sounded pretty damn good compared to other cassette brands back in the day.

    Group Buy Interest?

Don't forget State Farm. They had this nasty habit of raising your car insurance rate without notifying you. Then when you paid your next bill it wasn't enough so your insurance got suspended and they sent you a $200 penalty. We hates them my precious...

    micing a metal shed

Here's the deal. In my yard is a metal shed and one day I was cleaning it out when it began to rain. After a few minutes I became aware of some interesting rhythms produced by the rain drops on the metal roof combined with the louder hits of water coming off the tree branches above. What I want...

    sennheiser md421

In most stores they retail for around $350. I just noticed this while poking around... Open Box Music $308 is a nice price and you can submit an offer too. I have bought a few very expensive things from this seller and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Despite the "open box" thing I couldn't...

    suggestions for dynamic mic upgrade

If you can manage it go try out the Heil PR30. I tried one out for vocals and didn't like it but it sounded as though it would be a nice choice for guitar amps. I believe I read somewhere that it is pretty good in that role too.

    Good Source for 1/4" Plugs?

Just wanted to let you all know of a great source for bulk cable. http://myworld.ebay.com/u-can-save My 500' roll just arrived and I have dissected a length to see what quality cable this is. It is actually VERY good cable. I wasn't expecting much at this price $69 but it's a super deal for...

    Toa RX-7 Update

Ok I admit I get excited pretty easily. I suppose a better way of rephrasing that i5 statement is - I never thought the i5 could sound as good as it does through the upgraded pres. This applies to all my mics. I have done A/B comparisons along with a friend who has a good ear for all of my mics...

    Toa RX-7 Update

I've done some fun listening tests this weekend to determine the characters of the various opamps I'm using. Mind you these tests are highly flawed since all audio passes through Toa 2011 DOAs and Toa output transformers on the output side. So the colors of these devices is dominant. But, for...

    Bass is weak

This still leaves the problem of blocking the main door into the room. That console is 6'3" X 2' 10". It will need at a minimum 6" between it's rear panel and the wall for cable/snake clearance. That puts it roughly 3" into the doorway unless I move it further to the left side than it is...
