Holy Cow !!! Are they still around ? I bought my first MIDI card from them (at the store just off Yonge street) along with Power Chords Pro, and a desktop rack back in 1992 !!! Ran it all on a top of the line 386/40 machine with a whopping 8 MB RAM and a 110 MB hard drive !!! Wuz I cool or what...

    Favorite Opening Song Line

Ooooh, there's so many I like, but this one ranks up there: Her Father was a failure; her Mother was a comfort to her Doctor and her lawyer, and an Indian Chief.. - John Prine, Down by the side of the road

The most kick arse guitar you know?

IMHO, it's got to be the Godin LGX-SA. You've got 2 humbucking pickups, piezo pickups, and Roland synth access. What more could you need ? You can get virtually any sound you want. At least it's all I need (although I do have other guitars that I need as well - a Tele, a couple Martins, etc.)...

I need pro advice on multi-effects processors

A used Yamaha SPX90II may be the ticket for rev, delay, flange and phase. Those effects are good and useful. Haven't used the compressor much, but it is there. Selectable +4/-10 as well. mike

    The cost of laziness...

What I hate is wanting to change them to play on new strings, and then by the time I get them put on and stretched, I don't feel like playing anymore....

    Line only mixers?

I've got a Fostex 2016 Line Mixer that's just great for what I want it for. Cost me 100 bucks (Canadian) used. Here's a couple on e-bay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2515731649&category=23785 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2516144502&category=23785 mike

    erase my tapes

What needs to happen to realign the particles is to expose the tape to a strong magnetic field, and slowly collapse the field. Some bulk erasers do that for you, other (like the old one I have), you must activate the electromagnet, then slowly pull the tape out of the field. Takes a few tries to...

    Sound card

Hey Clive, In Asia, you might want to look into the following: http://www.esi-pro.com/esi-pro/eng/ or http://www.csound.com/ Haven't heard much on this board about them, but the product looks good. I like the wami rack, personally, but they also make a 4 channel 24/96 card. I suspect you may...

    Cubase books

Awwww.... And I thought this was going to be another long, drawn out, RTFM thread  I like a good manual, too. Easier to read on the can. :D Hope you find what you're looking for, bluesmouse. Let us know how it is. Cheers, mike

    Godin Guitars

Absoposifuckinlootley !!!! Talkin LGX-SA here. I think all their solid bodies are made to similar standards. A lot of the cost on the higher end models is electronics and high grade woods. That said, I've played a Godin Multiac, and I wasn't particularly impressed with it. But I love my...

    keyboard amps for vintage gear?

One of the best keyboard amplifiers I have come across has been the Fender Vibrosonic from the early 70's. 100 W, 2 channels, 1 - 15" Fender Professional speaker (made by Gauss). I bought it in high school primarily as a guitar amp for myself, but occasionally rented it out to bands when they...

    Newbie in need...

Are you sure the output of the ART is stereo ? I would use a mono 1/4" jack out of the ART, splitting the mono up into 2 channels with a Y adapter, and recombining these at the stereo line input on your sound card (requiring another adapter). Or, if you really must use the (very) noisy mic...
