    man its depressing

I agree, I think the vocals are just fine. This is pretty cool.

    Room Upstairs

Only critisism I have is the vocals getting lost when the song blasts out. I like the wet drums, reminds me of Boogie with Stu (I think that's the one) off Led Zeppelin's Physical Grafitti, but with a bit more oomph. Good one. Oh and I partcularly like your organ. Organ sound that is

    Trying to improve drum sound

I'd appreciate you opinions on my drum sound and whether it's better than on my earlier stuff. I've had a go at tuning the drums, this is the first time I've ever tried it. I've tightened the snare wires you suggested Greg. I've also played with the EQ. Someone here suggested boosting the 200hz...

    Wonderwall

Is it possible you've put the snare through compressor that's undoing the dynamics? Just a thought?

    Wonderwall

I don't think it's the snare sound, I think its that every hit sounds the same level, especially in the fills. Can you drop the volume on some of the hits, make them more ghost notes kind of thing, build the volume on the fills, like a short crescendo. Overall, pretty good, it's alway hard...

    Hey Bulldog - Beatles Cover

Very well done. Agree about the drums though.

Hey that's the excuse I use for my songs :D

New Artist Jess Akeem Check Me Out

Well executed. Nice kick, liked the sample choices. On the second track the end of the string sample seems to cut off a little abruptly, leaving a little gap, almost like the loop should have been slightly longer, it doesn't sound so bad once the song gets started, but it grates a little. Now...

    First Mix "Those Words"

Nice song, vocal harmonies all work. Guitar around 2:40 could could up. Vocals sometimes get a little lost in the loud bits. Now I'm definitley no expert when it comes to drums, that's something I'm working on, But the kick could do with some more lows. How do you mic your drums? Good work.

    Never mind.....

Great song. Like the backing vox. Drums sound really good, I wish I could get that sound. Playing is tight. Backing vox could come down a touch. As for vocals over all, they could come down a little, but that would just be a matter of taste, they don't sound wrong, or out of balance. If you...

I think I know what I did wrong

Hi again Clam. The different processing would have introduced tiny, tiny little dealys in the signal that start phasing. ironically you could get the shortcut effect your after by introducing a longer delay. If you send to about 50ms delay so it sound like two instruments, but before it sounds...

I think I know what I did wrong

Hi Clam. Again nice singing. The seems to be some phasing on the guitar? Not sure what you did to cause it. If you used two mics it could be phasing, but I've quite heard it like that before. Or it could be send to reverb, compressor effect that's out of phase? Just guessing. Nice song though.

    No Worries

Love the sparse arrangement, like your voice. The pace and feel of the song suit the title. I'm getting some stick over my drums at the moment, I wish I could get your snare sound. The bass sounds a bit off to me at 1:11 - 1:15, 2:40 - 2:45 unless I'm missing the relation to the chord on the...

    Song: Eva

Very dreamy, almost haunting. A little too compressed for me. I like the reverb. love the intro. It sounds like the 'click' from the kick is panned way over to the left, but the oomph is in the centre, is that intentional (or my ageing ears)?

    Another Song - Opinions Please

Thanks again for taking the time to listen and comment guys. Greg L - I had a check of the drums, The toms seem to be in tune with themselves round the edge with a nice ring, but they sound dead in the middle, is this typical of a worn out head? Well spotted with the snare, the wire is slack...

Military Arcade - No Money (a quick 1 take per instrument track)

I love the feel of this, and I like the sound. Vocals could be up a little, but not much. Everything seems to be centred, I'd like things spread a bit more, but I don't know if it'd loose some of it's power and blending. There's one or two bits where the timing goes out, but you might be able to...

    Another Song - Opinions Please

Thanks guys, much appreciate. Bisson, If you mean the vocal harmony I'm afraid I'm buggered there, both vocals are bounced onto thesame track. I did the vocals a few years ago, I may have the harmony and lead on seperate virtual tracks, I can't remember, I may have scrubbed them. Mud seems to be...

My first track with a new singer. Tell me what you think of the vox and the mix.

Very nice singing. Reminds of Alision Moyet. Mix wise, I'd like the vocals up a touch maybe, or maybe the guitar down a tad. Really like the song and the instrumentation. Good stuff.

    Another Song - Opinions Please

Thought you guys might get fed up with yet another version of I Know so I thought I'd get some opinions on this on, especially thoughts on the drums please. Sorry Greg but there's more guitar wanking :guitar:, but I'd appreciate your opinions on the drums please, as I would Jimmy and everyone...

    Engineering/producing this for a friend.

Very nice. Love the reverb. Only negative - distorted guitar around 3;34, it just sounds like there's too much reverb and it sort of looses definition, but I realise this isn't a finished mix. Everything else is fine. Are they your backing vocals? Very nice. As regards quality, can't fault it at...
