    Help a noob?

This sounds pretty good for a live rehearsal room. I'd have actually expected more spill on the drum kit than you had. As the guys said above I don't know if you could get it much better without some turning it down, using some sort of baffling or recording each track seperately. Sounded pretty...

    Acousticy Thing

Hi Guys - I've done a remix to try and bring the kick up and the vocals clearer. This is still the original vocal, I did have another shot at them and Foul Phil's advice for the high notes certainly helped, but I mucked up the other bits - I may have another shot later. Anyway please let me know...

Or I could buy a new drum kit.

    upgrading advice

Hi Guys I am currently using a Roland VS880EX. Would like more tracks, what do you guys suggest. Have considered a second hand VS1680 or a Zoom R24. Thing that puts me off Zoom 24 is lack of midi, would sometimes like to sync my Yahmaha SY85 seqencer with the recorder. I also read that with the...

    leitmotiv (work in progress)

Between 0:44 and 1:26 there was quite a bit of very low end rumbling/noise that was a little distracting. The would make an excellent movie intro music. nice feel to the piano intro, the orchestral parts sounded very authentic.

    How's this?

Just second what Chuckduffy said. Nice, early 70's bluesy rock feel. Look forward to hearing the finished product.

    New Tracks Up

Yep I didn't respond because I thought it was so bad - only kidding :D. Love the reverby guitars on the Grols Names. Reminds me a lot of coldplay. The bass is unusual and not a sound I would have chosen, but on a second listen it grows on me. Liked the overall sound of Thunderstruck Tower...

Thanks for listening and the advice guys. So what you're saying FoulPhil is that a forced wet fart would sound better than my singing? :( Naw only joking, I know what you mean, thanks for the tips :D. I think I also need to be in better shape and get the old stomach muscles toned (would look...

    New song clip

The drums sound kind of muffled? dull? need some eq up near the top end, possibly 2-3Khz? and the kick and the bass needs some umph. Again some low EQ or bringing up in the mix? maybe some higher frequencies on the bass. Not sure about the guitars, at first I thought they needed brightening up...

Punk Rock Track for you consideration

It's not what I would call punk either (bit then I am old enough to remember the first time it came around) more metal or rock. love the vocals. Can't really fault it, although would agree the the drums, or at least the kick, is a little prominent. Like the song.

1st mix using ProControl - Please Critique

Sounds good to me. Snare sounds a little dry and the cymbals are maybe a little too up-front. The vocals are dry, but it seems to suit. When you say a remix, do you mean a cover? There are some really good harmonies and the strings sound well arranged.

    I had a cold......

I really like this. The vocals sound fine. I don't mind the unbalencedness at all, the first Van Halen albums where like that, I don't think it would sound right if it had been doubled. Love the harmonies, especially around 2:30. The bit about 2:06 takes me by surpprise a bit. Love the slide...

    Acousticy Thing

Thanks for the feedback guys. This was about the 2nd or 3rd song I'd played and recorded drums on. I just used two overheads, so I can't do much about the kick. I did this mix a while back. I've spent so long trying to make programmed drums sound real, that I quite like the timing errors now I'm...

    Acousticy Thing

Thanks for that Robgreen. I see what you mean about the Sweet Home Alabama thing. I always seem to bury the vocals. I'd added some EQ to the final mix and wondered if I'd added too much low end.

My "kinda" first stab at electronic music

Great stuff. Can't think of anything that needs changing. Love the wah wah guitars. Good groove.

Chasing that elusive Robin Trower tone...

This is one my favourite songs. Sounded pretty authentic. Well done.

    Bash these mixes for me....

I especially like the first track. Some very nice early 70's style guitar tones.

    Acoustic singer/songwriter.

    very nice

I'd like you alllllll to hear :D

I've never heard the original but it sounds good to me. I'd maybe like the bass guitar up more, I like the bass guitar tone a lot, and the kick is a bit clicky for me.

    Shadowplay

I like the bass, but then I usualy like a busy bass line. Agree about the kick being to high and the snare too low, also that the snare need some reverb on it. Very atmospheric. Shame about the timing due to the click track. I think it would be worth retracking with a click track.
