    Teac 80-8 Motor Issue

Hi, My Teac 80-8 got bumped and fell about 1 foot onto the ground. Since then, the FW function is slow and the two tape path guides, underneath the heads, will not "unlock" they will only stay in place (unless I pull them down, at which point they click back up). No other problems other than...

    Otari Mx5050 B-2HD Calibration issue

Thanks for the reply. It may be the metal roller to the left of the heads, it seems to be spinning sporadically. But most of the appears by the playback head/pinch roller area. As far as I can tell it doesn't seem to be spooled incorrectly (unless a previous owner messed with the rollers or...

    Otari Mx5050 B-2HD Calibration issue

No, it's a new MRL...Direct from US Recording media. I don't think it's the tape though. It seems to have lessened with the shredding since I stood it upright. But I still can't calibrate the HI Freq. EQ on the deck with the tape...

    Otari Mx5050 B-2HD Calibration issue

I am having a problem with the MRL tape I purchased. During the 10khz section the hi-freq. EQ for channel 1 will not go up to 0vu, only up to -1. Also the tape is shedding every time I play it and leaving gunk on the heads and rollers as well as little piles of tape shreds. Are my heads shot?

Having an issue when using the 10khz tone on the MRL tape I have. I can't get channel 1 to register above -1vu and channel 2 flutters above 0vu by about 2db. Any thoughts on what to do?

    Some Teac 80-8 Questions

Some questions regarding maintenance and deck use: 1. Does anyone here know where I can get an extender card to use with deck calibration adjustments? 2. What specific model belt do I need for the clock timer on the machine? 3. The roller to the left of the deck (the fat, heavy roller, next to...

Otar 2 track XLR LINE INPUT RE-WIRING

Yes, that was the problem, we went under the assumption that it was un-balanced. It is balanced and we fixed the wiring, just crossed and soldered them.

Otar 2 track XLR LINE INPUT RE-WIRING

Apparently it was a backwards wiring issue.

Otar 2 track XLR LINE INPUT RE-WIRING

Back up, Laymen terms please? Strap- do you mean to electrically tape the wires away from the XLR jack and then only leave the shielded cable attached?

Otar 2 track XLR LINE INPUT RE-WIRING

To back up a bit. I'm just using a small Soundcraft EMP 6, with Monster XLRs. I don't know if it is unbalanced or balanced. All I'm trying to do is get a signal to run thru the Line inputs and I figured that I just needed to re-wire them to pin 2 hot. I only adjusted channel 1 and left...

Otar 2 track XLR LINE INPUT RE-WIRING

Ahh, but their are 3 wire: The main wrapped wire, with 2 smaller wires (an orange and a light blue/white colored one). The manual states: For unbalanced inputs using two-conductor shielded cable, wire the male XLR as follows: 1. Connect the signal leads of a cable to pin 3 (high) and pin 2...

Otar 2 track XLR LINE INPUT RE-WIRING

Having trouble re-wiring the LINE INPUT on my deck. I have re-wired the LINE INPUT, using a jumper, according to the manuals specifications and am not having any luck with any of the options. Do I need a special cable, am I missing something? I am simply running from the XLR out of a mixer to...

    Otari Mx5050 B-2HD Calibration issue

Alright, So we have tried to re-wire the XLR LINE IN's according to the manuals specifications with no luck. But now a new problem has come up....the deck will not turn on. The last thing we did was re-wire last night, after testing we had no luck. We shut it off and walked away from it for...

Low-sumer Analog Mixer for reel to reel setup?

I can dig it. Only thing is, yea that guy is local pick up only and that $1000 includes shipping...... I've been looking at Tascam and have been reading so/so reviews and stuff, though I have been attracted to their unique designs. I know it comes down to your ears....but can't really test...

Low-sumer Analog Mixer for reel to reel setup?

Bump me if this is in the wrong forum section. I have an 8 track analog rig/w a 2 track mix down deck. Just sold the old Soundcraft 16 channel and I am looking to upgrade. I've been looking at mainly Mackie & Soundcraft, in that order. Specific models- MACKIE: 24-8, 2404, 1640i Onyx...
