    Decent entry level ukulele?

Probably gonna get myself a Christmas present. Trying to stay under $150. Thinking a soprano. Something that sounds good, is fun, and stays in tune relatively well. Any thoughts?

Recording 4 Tracks at Once on PC

The firepod is a good option. There are a number of PCI/PCIe and firewire soundcard interfaces that will allow multi-channel recording. On the cheap end, the M-Audio Delta 44 or 66 are decent PCI cards. Also check out the Echo interfaces.

    New Mic Distorting

Although the mic capsule is rated at 162dB max SPL, it still may be possible to overload the capsule/circuitry on a very loud source. Also, on vocals, you may be getting some excess wind that is causing your "distortion." Ty a pop filter and see if it helps.

    Mic placement when tracking drums

The "Recorderman" method is a pretty foolproof overhead technique that will work for multiple styles and sounds great, imo. Described well in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiFOD1EeKhQ

    gobo's around amps

It depends on what you mean by "isolating the amp." If you just want to remove some of the room reflections from being picked up by the mic in front of the amp then, yes, they will help. If you want to decrease the overall amount of volume in the room, you really need an isolation box, as a few...

    muting an acoustic kit

Like was already said, they decrease volume substantially, but don't make the drums silent. Most of them just sit on the top head. The kick one I have came with a little velcro patch that you attach to the head and then stick the mute on. They make cymbal ones also, which just just go over the...

    Group Buy Interest?

Ooh, me too, Chance. That's mainly what I was planning on getting if I go in for the next buy, but if you have a couple extras, I could probably take them off your hands.

IMO, the Audio Buddy sounds much cleaner than the Tube MP.

    Best way isolate ech drum

Don't do that. Seriously. If you must, record the cymbals separately from the drums. But, it will suck. Why not just get an electronic kit?

    The FULL scoop on Naiants...

I'm sure Jon (mshilarious) could probably answer that question best, and I bet he would if you e-mailed him. My guess is that good electret omni capsules are readily available and inexpensive. Turning those into cardioid mics takes a lot more work (and cost).

    Nady ribbon mic questions

Some of those have several extra layers of mesh covering the ribbon. Removing some of them will open up the top end some. Still, it will never be a bright mic.
