    A Sad One

Yeah it's a little crispy and hissy, but who cares. I don't. You pulled me in, like a last call last one for the night too many cigarettes and beer stumble home I'll never drink again kind of song. This one should be in the Songwriting forum as well. Jon

    A new genre- Country Trance

Country trance is a nice description. I'm liking what I hear, it's different but in a David Lynch sort of way. Some of the keyboard sounds are a bit "cheesy", in my opinion, but not too bad. I like the harmonics stuff a lot. As far as the mix goes, I think you need to get a little wilder. The...

    New song - comments welcome.

I had some trouble with skipping, probably my computer. That said, what I heard was beautiful. I'm going to re-download. Jon

    Mine Kompf

I'm listening to Daydream. I guess, the title caught my eye. Very nice playing. The tune is very good. The mix though is not doing it for me. The drums and lead guitar are where they should be but everything else is getting lost. Some creative panning and judicious level maintenence might...

    Listen, Please

"Livin' is Easy"... All the tracks sound really good, especially the guitars. The vocals are great and the big backing vocals really work well for me, thanks to the panning. My only crit would be that I lost the lead vocals a bit at times. The lyrics are so good that I don't want to miss them...

    warning! experimental hillbilly orchestration!

I love it when a song invokes a strong image. This definately does, I think previous posts attest as well. The music and the mix are right on. If you can open a window in the minds eye of the listener you are truly onto something and you have a gift, so wrap it up, I'll take it. Jon

If I Had My Way (You'd Be Alright)

Downloading the Mp3... Question- is .wma a better format, ie non compressed? Listening... the acoustic guitar on the right in the intro seems removed from the mix somewhat. Love the lead guitar sounds, verb and panning. Vocals could be louder, less verb, more intimate. There's too much reverb...

    New song

Nice tones throughout. I don't know what you're worried about regarding eq. I'm listening on Sony Pro headphones and it sounds good to me. There's a nice space in the center just begging for vocals so get to it. BTW, I like the fret noise. Jon

Please critique this mix... my first song with vocals

Victima del Amor... isn't that an Eagle's song? Love the lo fi intro transition into hi fi. The sounds are really nice and placed well. I don't like the left heavy pan of the vocals. The vocals have a good sound in my headphones, but there is a weird effect that's happening with them, I can't...

One more thing about that bIImaj7... it can be used as a delayed resolution to the I chord as in II-7...V7...bIImaj7...I. I know thats not how I initially represented it but I know thats how I first learned about it. The maj7 tone of the bIImaj7 chord is the same as the tonic so melodically it...

    Favorite Out of Key Chords

I like the flat III major chord as in Eb in the key of C. I like substituting a flat IImaj7 chord instead of a V7 as in Dbmaj7 in the key of C. Flat VIdom7 to V7 to I is also a nice cadence as in Ab7 to G7 to C, in the key of C. Also I'm a big fan of pedal tones, either high or low, causing...

    New song need C&C.

Based on the earlier responses, I can't wait to hear this (downloading now). I'm pretty open minded when it comes to music, in fact, I think music recordings are the ultimate in sound design because they are not dependent or subserviant to any other medium ie pictures. (still downloading). Is it...

    Give Me Some Feedback Asap!

Your songs crashed my computer. Was that intended? Praise Be, I'm resurrected. Listened to "Satanic Verses". The lyrics and feel are right there, in the bowels of hell, right where they should be. I don't know about it being original in the last year, but, I've heard stuff like it for a long...

    Speaking of sucking...

Just so you know, I wrote a song 8 years ago called "Let It Suck". I'm thinking about litigation. What's with the somber pics? Your faces are completely antipathetical to the mood of your songs. Oh well, I love irony. Jon

    a new song

This has a Chris Cornell meets Ozzy feel for me. I love the warbly guitar part. I like the vocal sound a lot, both lead and back up. The overall mix is great- lots of breathing room. Guitars sound bitchin' and right on mix wise. I'm not crazy about the drum sound though, for me it lacks a roomy...
