C'mon guys. The B1 is a fine starter condenser mic for $80. Alot better than some of the comparably-priced stuff out there. Prospect, if you stick with it you'll probably acquire better mics but there will be occasions where you'll want to pull the B1 out. Good luck with your project!

ummm... neither? A Studio Projects B1 would do a better job recording both acoustic guitar and voice than either of the 2 you mention.

I can hardly think of any instances where an SP B1 would be a *bad* choice for someone's first condenser.

Alrighty. I just got back from GC. You can get an MK319 in a case with a cord for $49. If I didn't already have 2 of them I would've jumped all over this. Also, while not on 'the list', the guy said he would deal me an MC012/MK012 for $60. Maybe you'd want to try a couple out but I don't...

GC can be sorta weird with their sales sometimes. I was able to get a couple of Oktava MK319s for $100 a couple months ago but not all stores would do it. Some would only do the deal for the 219s. I plan on being at my GC early tomorrow and getting a copy of 'the list'. I'll keep you guys...

If it's the MK319(not 219) for $79, that's a good price. What are they getting for the Oktava MC012? That and the 319 would be a pretty sweet acoustic guitar/voice combo.
