    Chunky Guitar?

"oomph" might be the new replacement word for "warm" to describe what a good tube amp give you tone wise. It is difficult to explain, but those tubes do add a certain something to the general sound of a guitar. I can get a solid state to sound pretty good alone, but once it enters the mix, the...

    Copyrighting???

I would think my tongue-in-cheek post would be easier to decipher. The purpose of copywriting material is for the exact reason that you don't want others stealing it and making money. Leaving you, the creator, with nothing. Well the truth is that artists steal music all the time and get away...

    Copyrighting???

Much easier to just mail a copy of the Cd to yourself. If Nickleback steals your song, you'll still will be able to cash in on it by having a judge open it at the hearing. In a way, you'd be better off having them steal a song than buying it from you because you'll get ripped off big time.

Save Me From the Sun (Music Video) - sort of experimental

Not sure if it was really warning kids not to try it or not. Looked like a lot of fun. :D It might have had more drama. I started getting a bit bored around 4 minutes. The music sounds good, but again, it was droning on and on. The video was done well.

Get bass to sound in ear buds

BLP...NAIL. You could drop $200 on a nice set of Shure buds, or just get some quality full size phones. Some of us might check a mix with phones, but seriously get some near fields.

    Basic, Affordable Setup

The one thing that jumps out at me in the list is the audio buddy. Get rid of that thing at once. If you can't afford a good one, try the ART Tubepac. No hiss and pretty good tube gain and compression.

    Line 6 Poll

remember, Line 6 does offer the Bogner tube powered amp. It meets the needs of tube only guys like myself. The one problem with Line 6 is that they name the modelers. Many guitar players prefer a nice crunch and avoid the "metal" model. But that is probably the most versitile model of all. Bring...

Tube Amp Comparison: Unbiased Ears Tell A Very Interesting Story

Rather than just naming names, why not do a shootout for us to judge? Upload some samples. When I was responding, I was assuming all amps were stock. Yes, tubes and speakers can totally change an amps tone dramatically. Even a cheap chinese amp can sound great with some mods. I brought my...

Problem with recording guitar in Sonar 8

I can record a line signal directly to the soundcard with Sonar. No problem. I might think the amp is suspect. Try using the line out signal going into another amp and playing a while. If the signal is strong & clear, then it's not the amp. I would suggest NOT doing that anyway. The tone will be...

    EMG 81 vs EMG 85

MY guess is that those people reviewing the EMG's were replacing cheap Asian pickups. Of course they will sound better than that. There are some great pups out there for metal. Dimarzio's and Gibson's Dirty Fingers are a couple. Some of the best pups I have ever heard are from Carvin. I would...

speak to me about mic pres

I like the idea of compressing the signal before it gets laid down. The secret is to use it sparingly. If you would EQ, same goes there. Ever so slight changes. Don't laugh, but I have an ART Tubepac pre. 1 12AX7 for the preamp and one for the compressor. Using my Bluebird mic, I have a very...

    EQ'N Vocals

My suggestion is to A/B the vocal track with a professional CD.Something where there are vox with no music. Have a scratch track, sing the exact same thing as the CD, then go back and forth listening to each and messing with the EQ to get as close a match as you can. A common problem is a poor...

    Audio Spectrum Explained

Here's a good test for a track to help you with determining which frequencies are detrimental or beneficial. Solo the track. Run a good graphic EQ. Pull down ALL of the sliders, then one by one push it up to zero, then slowly all the way to full gain on that frequency. You will learn a lot...

finding it impossible to stay in time when singing and playing guitar at same time...

It might sound strange, but get two drum sticks. Sing along with the song and play drums on a bed or pillow or something. It's a dexterity issue. being able to sing and make your hands keep time is the problem. Try it. But like everything else, it takes lots of practice. Maybe months to get in...

Question about Line-out from amp into mixer into DAW

I wouldn't suppose you are using a Line 6??? If so, forget about it. I don't care how well you tweak it, the tone will suck lemons. Most amps have the same issue. You can try cab simulators, but you'll just end up frustrated at the final mixdown. Mic'ing the amp is the only way to go for decent...

PSP Vintage Tube warmer.:drunk: It can warm a track. It can give it punch. It can crisp the top end. It can deep fry in into saturation. It can compress a signal. It can dam well about do anything. All in one FREE plug in (if you can still find it) If I were left with one plug in...that's it...

Biggest reason for music biz crash???

The previous replies do confirm the facts about the music biz in general. There are still labels making Cd's and artists making millions. There is also WAY more exposure for lesser known artists. It's not dead, but rather alive, just in a newer, less romantic reality. I call it a crash because...

    I need a compresser!

Nobody asked about the bass! Whatcha got there? If it's a Squier or some other asian knock off then no wonder. Even my buddy's Epi sounds like crud recorded. They use cheap electronics and you cannot easily fix a bad input signal. There are a few exceptions, though. I have a TRABEN bass that...
