Broken jack plug lodged in phones socket of Behringer Q502USB mixer

Thanks - that sounds tricky but a great idea. At this stage the main challenge is trying to get the broken tip back into an upright position - it is lodged very firmly and needs something pretty rigid with a hook or L-shape at the end to pull it upwards. A bent paper clip is nowhere near strong...

Broken jack plug lodged in phones socket of Behringer Q502USB mixer

Here are pictures of the part-disassembled unit: The top red arrow in the 2nd pic is the underside of the jack socket. The two arrows on the bottom are the only retaining screws for the board. If you look at the top photo you can just about see the gold tip of the jack at the base of the socket.

Broken jack plug lodged in phones socket of Behringer Q502USB mixer

Shining a light into the socket, the broken tip of the jack actually seems to be lying sideways at the bottom of the socket (I can see the green ring). It's just the nobbly bit on the end that has broken off. I've tried to put a screwdriver into the socket to force it away from the socket...

Broken jack plug lodged in phones socket of Behringer Q502USB mixer

When I removed my headphones from the headphone socket of this mixer the end of the jack plug (10mm below the lowest ring) became detached, and is now stuck in the base of the headphone socket. This prevents me from plugging in other headphones, and has effectively disabled the headphone socket...

Alesis DM5 - is ext trigger dead?

I just bought a used Alesis DM5 brain to replace my original, which had lost input on 5 of its external triggers. The new unit appears fine APART FROM input #1 (the hi-hat), which I can't get a response from. I've tried using a known "good" pad (i.e. one which works fine as a Tom trigger), but...

Triggers on DM5 dying one by one

I tried plugging in/out about 30 times (with a clean jack plug) but it doesn't seem to have had any impact. Silly question: can the continuity test be done with the DM5 switched off? In the meantime I've decided to use a 2-into-1 adapter to plug both crash cymbals into the same trigger. Not...

Triggers on DM5 dying one by one

A couple of the plugs did show signs of oxidation so I dipped a Q-tip in denatured alcohol and twirled it around inside the sockets, but it didn't help. I then tried removing the case screws, but broke the handle off the first screwdriver trying to remove one of the rear screws! I decided to...

Triggers on DM5 dying one by one

It's actually been unused (but plugged in for over a year). The crash cymbal in port #12 was working when I last powered up, but not any more. If I swap it into port #7 - which is where the other (working) cymbal is connected it works fine. Likewise if I connect the cable from the other...

Triggers on DM5 dying one by one

It seems that the trigger inputs on my DM5 are slowly dying one by one - ports 8, 11 and 12 are all dead when I try to plug any of my pads into them. Is this common, and is there an economical way of repairing them?
