Revisiting my track/mixing process in Guitar Tracks Pro 3

Hello everyone. Been ages since I've posted. I've recently invested a bit more into my home recording rig and wanted to get some process flow recommendations from you gurus so I get the most out of my new stuff. Here's what I'm using to record, mix, etc.: -- Creative Labs X-Fi Elite...

Article: Head To Head Modeler Shoot Out (FYI)

Done! Added the full terminology right next to the first occurrence of FRFR. :)

Article: Head To Head Modeler Shoot Out (FYI)

Gotcha. I've been using the FRFR term so much I took it for granted that people would know what I meant. :) Easy enough to add the full term. Thank you for the input!

Article: Head To Head Modeler Shoot Out (FYI)

I don't post out here very often, but I do browse the genius around here from time to time. I recently wrote a lengthy article that compares several Modeler/MultiFX (MFX). I figured it might be useful to some of the folks here since some of you no doubt use (or are looking at) MFX for live and...

HELP! Compression or what?? Mix is off... ugh.

Hey ya - I followed your tips - and things "seem" MUCH better. Would you mind listening to the Behemoth Rising song in particular and let me know if it sounds good through your gear? I don't have monitors etc... to get a "pro" sound - so I gotta make do. ~A~

HELP! Compression or what?? Mix is off... ugh.

Hmmm okay - YES... I do normalize everything. I thought that was what I was supposed to do... make all the volumes "normal" (that is, all at a particular normal level). Ummm... oops. I don't see a master levels meter that would show the full mix' level. I have seen that before in other software...

HELP! Compression or what?? Mix is off... ugh.

Hi guys, I've been trying to get a good mixdown of my tracks, but when I bounce them all to a single stereo track - The signal is just WAY too strong through parts of the song. The individual tracks aren't clipping at all. Most don't get closer than -3db... I think it has to do with when it all...

    Schecter question...

Bump - I recently got a C-1 Elite (amber) and after adjusting the neck for super low action (surprised me how low I could go!), even with the Duncan Designed pups (which Seymour Duncan says are 95% accurate to the '59 and JB models) - I find it an excellent value. I've tried a TON of other...

Anyone played an Ibanez AS73? Its like an ES-335

I have an AS83VLS and LOVE it. It is one of my favorite guitars, flat out. It plays clean, jazz, blues, rock, and even some metal (not nu-metal)... Put a set of Snake Oil Strings on it and bingo! For $100 man I'll buy the thing! As long as there is no warping or significant problems, that will...

New web project on my mind... would you guys use it?

How can I avoid the fizzies when recording guitar?

Thanks G. Do you mean that I should just drop all 5k+ frequencies by 5dB or so?? Will that kill the "sparkle" on the cleans? I will try it and see I guess! ;) ~A~

How can I avoid the fizzies when recording guitar?

Ya, I can't afford a good tube amp for now... plus I don't wanna mess with the weight and tubes, etc. I tried it and for the hassle - I just didn't see the benefits being worth it. I don't play any gigs that require a fancy tube amp anyway. I play with the P&W band and some informal sit-in jams...

How can I avoid the fizzies when recording guitar?

See my signature for my gear... I get fizzies regardless of my setup (I've had many over the last few years). I have to record direct to pc soundcard - for various reasons. I make sure not to go into the soundcard too hot so as to clip from the levels, etc. I've been listening to actual mic'd...

    Recording a Keyboard amp

No longer have the Vox/PA gear - moved on to a better sounding rig.

How can I avoid the fizzies when recording guitar?

It seems as though just about any distortion will bring in some "fizzies" or buzzy high frequency artifacts. What would you gurus do to eliminate those fizzies? Would you use a parametric EQ and notch the fizzy frequency? Any insight is appreciated. ~A~

    Recording a Keyboard amp

Guys - I'm running my guitar into a VOX ToneLab SE through a Keyboard amp (Alesis SUMO100). I want to record it with a microphone. I only have one mic. The keyboard amp has a driver and a horn. I'm not sure how to mic it to get the full range of tone. How can I mic this setup? I could go direct...

Having trouble getting the mix just right!

Re-recorded and Remixed Okay I messed up the original song pretty bad... I figured out how to rerecord all the components of the song (except for the piano/drum backing track mp3) with my little microphone. I tweaked and mixed the entire thing and (I think) it turned out better. :confused...
