It's not a question of the instruments relative to each other, but the whole group plays from moderately loud to extremely soft. I suppose I could just ride the master gain, but I thought perhaps there was might be a smoother way to do this.
I like the interpretation, and loved the harmonies. Never heard the song before -- melody sounds a bit derivative of Scarlet Ribbons.
One reasons I like the harmonized parts best is because you don't hear the thing that bothered me: the breathing on the lead vocal. I understand what you may...
I like the arrangements, really added a lot. Ditto on bringing them up in the beginning.
I don't know if you were going for the sound, but I thought the cello timbre sounded a bit synthetic. Maybe they had more reverb that the rest of the mix? I'd go for a very natural cello sound on that...
Anybody used shotgun mics for music applications? Many of them are designed for vocal or video use and don't necessarily have a wide, smooth freq response or convey the timbre of instruments.
I want something I can use to spotlight soloists to bring them more upfront when recording an...
HI:
What are some starting points for setting to reduce the dynamic range of a recording?
I did a recording which sounded fine over my home monitoring system, but in real world playback (office minisystem, car), I've found you can't hear the quieter parts w/o playing back at a level where the...
Re: Re: Used mic pre
I've seen it -- it's a good thread. I'm wondering what C9 bought and how he likes it.
I'm also wondering if there are any updated opinions on the MMP-2 the past several months.
There's a couple guys here who recommend it, but I haven't seen any comparisons of it as a...
Another case in point: Folkways. In business for over 40 years, something like over 1000 albums released, which are now a national treasure.
And it was run out of a two room office - INCLUDING the recording studio (with less equipment than many people around here own). For many years the...
Headroom is a great retailer and good amp mfg. that pretty much pioneered the filed of modern audiophile headphone listening and is well known in the high end audio community.
No offense intended, but I've noticed that the headphone knowledge base on homerec is does not seem to be as well...
It's not semantics. The way Regiebro gave his reply wasn't the most helpful, but he's much more correct than AudioWebs.
There are record labels that own none, or only some of the things AudioWebs listed, and few if any have them "ten times over."
The vast majority of labels don't own CD...
The way you put that suggests a side question: is there some reason it would not be preferable to use the Masterlink converters on a modest budget? I've read that they're very good and figured that using them would allow me to do better on an a pre/limiter w/o converters, and therefore improve...
