Pro Tools - Mbox 2 Issue

Yeah, I read that one.. it was a firmware installer for a different Mbox model. For whatever reason, that installer allowed a lower version to be installed over a higher one.

Pro Tools - Mbox 2 Issue

Oh yeah, here's the other weird thing.. I had Pro Tools installed with this MBox 2 on Leopard before I upgraded to Snow Leopard. After the upgrade it worked fine. My computer was a bit sluggish though, so I did a clean install of Snow Leopard. This is when I started having the problem. When I...

Pro Tools - Mbox 2 Issue

All 3 are there. When I install either of the two drivers, whichever one is installed shows up correctly in the Extensions. For some reason when I install 10.3.3 it is listed as 10.3.5.211. I wish there was a way that I could downgrade the firmware; it's the only thing I can think of that i...

Pro Tools - Mbox 2 Issue

Is there anywhere on the Mac that shows driver information? The only info I can find is the Mbox 2 window in System Preferences, but it just lists the firmware. There are two different drivers for the MBox 2 on the Avid site; I've tried installing them both, several times, w/o any luck.

Pro Tools - Mbox 2 Issue

'm using Pro Tools 8.0.5 LE w/ a MBox 2 on a Mac running Snow Leopard, 10.6.8. I'm having problems with the MBox 2 being recognized by both Pro Tools and the Mac itself. I have all the latest drivers and firmware installed. When launching Pro Tools it says that the hardware can't be located. In...

    24bit vs 16bit and Hz

I just did some 24bit recordings (used to do 16bit) and the difference is amazing! I feel like an idiot for not going 24bit in the past. Anyways, I'm wondering if it's worth recording at a higher Hz than 44.1? I've read that Hz don't convert down as well as bits, when formatting back to CD...

    Howard Stern mics.

Because there are already "x" amount of people that have expressed interest in the thread, who will receive some kind of update that there's a new message. Also, the original post, and replies, didn't contain any dated material, so it's likely that there is still some amount of remaining...

    Howard Stern mics.

I've been trying to figure out what type of compressor Howard uses. You can see the rackmount unit behind him on all the Sirius shows.

Mixing Drums - One Mic Track

I'm almost done with the mix. I only have a set of bookshelf speakers and headphones to mix on. Here's a link to one of the tracks.. I think I did a pretty good job considering what I had to work with (i.e. the drum track that I originally posted). Please give me any suggestions on the mix...

Mixing Drums - One Mic Track

I was able to fix things up pretty well.. I'm still not done mixing, but I was able to get that bedroom reverb sound off of the drums. I pretty much cut out all but the high frequencies from that main drum track and compressed the shit out of the snare and kick. I had to put the volume WAY down...

Mixing Drums - One Mic Track

Thanks for all the advice. Everything has already been tracked; the bass was DI and the guitar close mic'd w/ a 57. He had the reverb dimed, so that track is a bit tricky. I'm not gonna re-sample anything.. I don't have the software to do it, and it doesn't sound like something they would want...

Mixing Drums - One Mic Track

I'm mixing a recording for a friend's punk band with Pro Tools 7.3 LE. I have 3 drum tracks to work with.. one MCA SP1 was placed a few inches from the kit, at tom level, one SM-57 on the snare and one SM-57 close mic'd to the (closed) kick. Unfortunately, the kit they had was pretty much...

anyone ever heard of a guitar made by ampeg called stud?

You got that right. The ones made in Japan have plywood bodies! They have a Stud at a local store for $400. I like the vibrato system on it, you can pull the lever both up and down, and it stay is tune well. I was gonna offer them my '94 mint condition Epiphone LP standard for the guitar, until...
