Isolation box for mic'ing a cab?

Yeah, Here's my thoughts from the outside in: 3/4" plywood exterior 1" sheetrock 2" 703 3/4" plywood (isolated from 703 via neooprene pucks) 1/2" sheetrock 3" 703 Inside air space (8000+ cubic inches in front of speaker and 3000+ behind it.) Also the speaker will be isolated from the inner box...

Most natural sounding analog fizz/dist pedal for Fender tube amp.

I use a Boss MT-2 with mine and I love it. It's tone shaping facilities are nice and it'll do just about any tone in the book. BOSS METALZONE ALL THE WAY BABY!!!! PS- Don't let the name fool you, it's so much more than a metal pedal.

Need advice on this soundcraft mixer

"Soundcraft" is good. "Spirit" is like getting a korean made squire instead of an american made strat. Price will make the biggest influence. $50 would be too much. And I'd steer clear cause the dude can't sell 147 items before his rep is down .7%. Shady!!

Isolation box for mic'ing a cab?

I'd suggest that you try not to place a whole amp in isolation. I'd suggest putting only the speaker(s) and mics in isolation. Amps (esp. tube) make way too much heat to be locked up air tight. Can you say thermal meltdown!! I'm considering making an iso box. I'll let you know how it turns...

Isolation box for mic'ing a cab?

On the contrary, many people see them as a means to minimize volume in a room while retaining the tone of a speaker at high volume levels. It's more like a box to keep sound from getting out rather than keep outside noise from getting in. Of course it can't do one of those without doing the...

Great White manager gets 4 years in prison

You know, The owners (allegedly) gave permission and knew that the foam wasn't fire retardent. I say they are just as much to blame as the manager guy. At least he had the balls to fess up and plead guilty. Those club owners are cowards and liars. They should get no less that the same...

Need Help Fast!!! Alesis HD24 input problems

    P. 22 of the manual says you can set the input mode by holding down input select until it reads "SELECT AUDIO INPUT TRACKS". You should then be able to press the track select button # 13 or higher to make the 24 inputs hear their own inputs. Try that. Also, There may be a padlock icon on the...

Need Help Fast!!! Alesis HD24 input problems

Did it work before you rented it? I mean did you test it before you walked out the door with it? That would let you know if it's your setup or the HD24 itself. I'd say, unhook everything and completely start over. Follow the manual for the proper settings for inputs and monitoring. Did you...

Isolation box for mic'ing a cab?

You'd want to lean toward a larger space. Too small and all you've done is isolate a crappy guitar tone.

Hows is your HD24 set up with analog boards?

Shoot, I'd buy an analog board if it had, in the very least, automation of faders and mutes. I don't need automated fx or auxes or all that onboard fx library crap and internal patching. I can deal with the wires, I can't deal with the prices of good quality consoles. I will eventually get a...

    Home Recording Show?

Nah, let the smaller fish in the pond do some sponsoring. Bring down the yuppie corps!!!!! I don't think you can classify remodeling a home together with putting a bunch gear in a room and calling it a studio. I'd be much more able to do the latter. The fact is, we need to protect our...

    Les Paul? Really?

Depneds on teh electronics you pick and think about this... by the time you buy an Epi LP and upgrade it, you could have bought a real LP and saved yourself the trouble. Like I said, Gibson is making good guitars well below a grand these days. Do the math before you make up your mind.

    Home Recording Show?

Do you realize the ramifications to this? Everybody who sees the show will say "Dang, that doesn't look too difficult. I like music and I hate my current job so, I'm gonna try to make a studio." There's already too many of those guys and too many artists themselves saying they can make their...

Hows is your HD24 set up with analog boards?

I'd love to have a yamaha DM2000 for my HD24 but, I'm doing some serious wishing here. Plus it's not an analog board but, analog boards w/ automation are more expensive than a digital one. It'd kick the pants off my ddx3216. Gosh, I wish I could afford a real board. I bet I'd love a speck...

    Overheads

Well, the sm94 is more expensive but may not necessarily mean better. I am partial to Shure over AKG. However, You may want to look into the Avenson STO-2. they're $500 a pair and Fletcher, if I remember correctly, said some nice things about them. Then you can just use either the sm94 or...

    Les Paul? Really?

My experience is that an Epiphone Guitar is alright for gigging and as a spare on the road. Most of the live sound can be masked by amps and fx. For recording, there's nothing better than a "real" gibson LP. I have an Ibanez guitar that I think cuts it live but, when I record in a friend's...
