    The Onyx 1620 mislead me

Yeah the alesis digital mixer has horrible preamps. I went with a firepod instead and will buy a simple analog mixer later on. :p :D

    The Onyx 1620 mislead me

Hah! Geez, well this can do exactly what I want but now I see that it's a bad thing too. An on/off button would be too complicated huh?

    The Onyx 1620 mislead me

I don't see the point in buying the onyx and then modding it. Is there not an interface with a buil in mixer?

    My first acoustic song...

Get off my ass. I didn't even read the other comments when I said that. You can tell it has an autotuner. It's got this ghost like sound to his voice.

    My first acoustic song...

    The Onyx 1620 mislead me

I can't picture it exactly. All I want is basically an external mixer/recorder. I want to be able to eq the instruments before the signal goes to the pc.

    The Onyx 1620 mislead me

I thought you could use the eq's as you recorded via Firewire...but you can't :( Is there another interface that does have the capacity of doing this. If not, how could I set up an interface, like the firepod, and use some kind of EQ board to pre eq the sound before going into the computer?

    Shred!

retrack the whole thing? I might remix it but I don't think I need to redo anything except vocals.

First try at Parallel Compression on drums...

Woah, Woah, Woah....dude you changed up your sound alot. Or maybe it's just the shitty speakers I'm listening through. Your tone sounds alot more 80's and leaning more to Sabbath with Dio . Your drums sound more distant in this mix. Your guits sound like they are missing alot of lows and have...

    Metal song Demo

I think one of my farts could've been more useful than that. Anyways, from what I heard, your drums are muddy, have bleed and it definately sounds like a behringer mixer. Exactly how did you set up the mics? It sounds like you just put them infront of your kit and hit record. Get some more high...

    Pre-playing warm-ups

John Petrucci has a book with some awesome warm up excercises. They are meant to stretch and synchronise your hands.

    First "in the box" mix

Wow this is good. Very very nice mix. The only thing that bothered me is the distorted guit. It sounds lonely and weak. I think it should be stereo but that's more of a style aspect rather than technical. Nice ;) edit:how long did it take you to grow your hair that long by the way?

Anyone want a laugh. I try to sing Alice Cooper

awesome quality on the recording. I think you panned the guits a little too hard. Vocals sound fine to me for a rock song. Drums and kick could be punchier and brought up and spread out a bit more. Snare could use some more mids. Nice tune anyways. ;)

    Has this got potential?

I don't know if you noticed but on my song, the piano isn't in perfect timing. It makes it more natural. ;)
