Short video clip of my recent session

I am a drummer, and sure (pop commercially) the snare makes more sense being on beat. But you know what, that was a very interesting grove, it kept me counting to see if I could keep up. I personally love the placement, it is something outside of the box and it fits the song. Wow, if we only...

    what is your recording set-up?

I love my firepod. I got a mac mini mounted in the bottom of the rack box, so its all portable. I need to work on getting some monitors, but for now, I use headphones for tracking, and some small harmon kardon powered crap speakers for mixing.

    Focusrite Penta Question

Thanks for the information. It might have been overdriven, I was running a mic pre into the penta, I will try backing that out, or bypassing it and going straight through. I guess its input stage is pretty finicky.

    Focusrite Penta Question

I have a penta and it works pretty good on acoustic guitar, but not getting that great a quality with vocals. I have a mk319 and an adk a51, tried both, turned the "tube sound" all the way down, and they still sound muddy with no definition. Am I doing something wrong, or should I not use this...

    3 mic drum setup

I would try the at2020 over and work it to capture the snare. Use the 57 for the kick on track two, but I dont think I would combine the 609 and the at together. That could reek havoc when mix down approaches. It will take some work, but you can get a really good snare sound with that...

    Recording drums with one mic

I recorded a drum track using only one condensor once in my garage. It turned out great after an hour of eq adjusting. Here is a copy of it. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=779939

    Making your own cables

As long as the conductor is the correct size and type for carrying the signal without adding resistance to the load, its properly shielded, and the connectors are properly terminated, a cable that you make will have the exact same stats of any cable at any price in the entire world. There is no...

    Rcording with Yamaha DTXPRESS III

if you just want to record them, hook them up with the L/R out using a pair of 1/4 cables, and treat it as a stereo track.

    117 volts?

Voltage really depends on so many factors. I will just name a few. -Distance from step down transformer (the thing that converts the high voltage from power lines to 120/208 or 120/240 that feeds your house). -How many times that feed is split for all dwellings on that grid. -How well the...
