Guitarists: What do you do to increase speed & dexterity?

It's important though!! Playing with a drum machine is better though. When I do recording and I play to a click track I usually notice that when I put the drums to it I'm slightly off. When I paly to a drum track - because of the fact that theres more going on - I play WAAAAAAAAAY more...

small PA system for guitar rig?

That's an interesting idea. What I would do in your situation, is buy an acoustic guitar amplifier, which is more similar to a PA than an electric guitar amplifier. That way, you could mic (or use a pickup  ) for your acoustic, and then run everything else into the amp. ~darknail

    replacement gtr necks

Also my friend warmoth is for FENDER replacement parts and not gibson or really anything else for that matter. Certain knockoff guitars like the ibanez roadstar (i think) which is basically a strat but made by ibanez can utilize warmoth products. Gibsons however....... no ~darknail

    what are preamps?

Most preamps give some amount of tonal control like EQ settings and what not. All guitars and basses have preamps in them too. The volume and tone controls on a guitar is a preamp. When your recording bass... depending on what kind of bass you have, you might not even need a preamp. This is...

    HORRIBLE Feedback problem

Well I have a question for you first. Did you wire the pup yourself, or have a tech do it? If you wired it yourself it might be 1 or more of several things. 1 being that you wired the pickup out of phase which means that you need to swap the ground and hot wires. 2 is that you have a poor...

[question about] Playing Guitar with a Violin bow

I don't know anything about violins but what I do know about them in terms of guitar playing is that you can use an e-bow to create a very similar effect. Its basically a little magnetic unit that you hold on the strings over the pickup to produce awesome sustaining notes, and even more awesome...

    Amp Guru's!.....A Question for Ya!

If you're looking for that marshall sound in a small watt combo, your not going to find it; the marshall sound is BIG and LOUD my man. Their smaller AVT amps are actually pretty cool though. If your using this future amp for recording good luck. The fact that you'll be able to get massive...

    audio mixdown problems

Well, it MAAAAAAAY be a processing/ram problem. When I did tracking on Cakewalk Homestudio I never had a problem with it. On Cubase I do though. (It shouldn't be a problem though considering Cubase is 700 more bones than Homestudio is!!!) I'm running an amd athlon 1.6ghz (2000+) processor...

    audio mixdown problems

$270 for the superior??? I paid $99 for my version!!! Apparently toontrack produces DFH now. DFH 2 is the one I have and was produced by East West and used a special version of Native Instruments Kontact as the sampler. I think. So I am registered with them. I have Cubase 2.5.035? The...

when u first record yourself doing anything, you to yourself will sound bad. But the good thing is that the tape won't lie. When your playing by yourself you might wave a mistake or 2 but on tape it isn't that easy to do that. When i first started recording myself play guitar I realized how...

    Help with monitoring delay

That's kind of strange.. Well first thing you should consider is to buy a soundcard thats meant for recording. The problem could lie in your soundcard. The Audigy is a home entertainment soundcard, not a recording one. Most cards, that are meant for recording also have something called a DSP...

    audio mixdown problems

Actually I misworded something. When I say clip out, I actually meant cut out. Like the drum track just stops. And what do u mean "superior" version of DFH? It's the 2nd edition if that's what you mean. Everything works fine, just the god damn drum tracks cuts out. ~darknailblue

    audio mixdown problems

Hey guys! I've got me this little problem here that's causing me to go insane. I'm using Cubase SX2 to do tracking, and usually use 3 VSTis when writing a song. I have this one VSTi called the drum kit from hell by native instruments. Well the way it works is that it simulates mics on a drum...

The soundblaster live is for gaming and multimedia. You're missing the most important thing needed for computer recording. Not that the Live isn't a good soundcard. It's excellent for gaming (play games like unreal tournmanet in surround sound... IT'S AWESOME!!!!), but not suitable for...
