I think I have decided upon buying an MR-8 and importing the dry tracks I lay down directly to my PC where I will use Ntrack to mix. My recording will primarily consist of vocals and the occasional bit of acoustic guitar. Do I need a mixer?

It sounds like I found my answer-the MR-8 used for recording tracks dry and then importing them to N-Track where I can then import my pal's tracks in to mix. This stuff is fun!

The only thing that I don't like about the Layla solution is that it has no XLR jacks. I wonder if the Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96 has a pcmcia add-on? I'll send them an email and ask.

I was also thinking about a USB-based card with breakout box, so that I could use my laptop to record if I wanted to do so in a funky place. But, I'm reading on this board that the USB's can be tempermental. Any ideas/comments?
