OK.. that's what I was trying to get at! I usually just leave this thing sitting on a boom stand, and is usually parked right in front of a JBL G734 when not in use. I should probably put it in a baggy and put it away... ...but I just wondered if it may have incurred any damage from hanging...

...yup... used "Windows Update" once.. ONCE:mad: ! never again! I you need new or updated drivers for hardware, get it from the manufacturer's site. Don't think that a Windows Update will solve all your software glitches.... ...the update wacked my computer out bigtime too!:eek:

Thanx Bruce! For that reason alone, I'll take it offthe boom and put it in the handy little container it came in... ...but if I store it next to a speaker.... um...:confused:

Just a thought... ...is the string squeal gonna stand out in the final mix? Are you just doing a guitar / vocal thing, or are you planning on incorporating more instruments? Depending on where you're going with the recording, the string noise may end up un-noticeable.

OK.. This may be a dumb question, but like they say, the dumbest question is the one that isn't asked...lol.. I have an AT4050. I usually leave it set on a boom stand. It usually ends up hanging out near a rather large speaker (which doesn't have magnetic shielding). Can this do any damage...

Yer out of my expertise (and I use that term loosley) when it comes to XP. I have two full versions (paid for) just sitting here, but havent got up the balls to install them. I do have XP running on my business computer, and it seems to be kicking along OK, but I'm not taxing that system...
