your problem is probably a midi loopback.. your keyboard will continue to distribute the even back to the computer, and the computer will send it back to the XV which in turn will send it back to the computer... it's not gonna do anything else unless you switch off midi thru in sonar or plug out...

hmm.. brzil... alot of people use synths like that for pop.. but you're right, it would probably make better sense to buy a module or a rom keyboard.. but every time i hear the word "synth" i think of v/a and analogue ones... I could suggest the e-mu proteus for a rom module....
