    To Choose a DP-24

Preamps are fine, but I prefer outboard preamps (I use an ART MPA-II and do a lot of mid/side mic'ing of acoustic instruments, and also use ribbons for Blumlein recordings and need the extra gain). I've never seen any legitimate complaints about them, either ... and would be interested to hear...

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

Right. You're pissed because you don't know the difference between recording tracks and input channels. That's Tascam's fault, of course. The DP-24 is a 24 track recorder with eight input channels. It's clear in the documentation. It IS "labeled correctly".

    Tascam DP24 Recording volume

I usually record so my meters read -12db to -6 db ... no hotter than that. It leaves headroom for post processing (compression, EQ, etc). If you record just short of clipping you leave no room to do anything. You can boost the overall volume of a track in post-processing if you need to.

    DP 24 Applying Reverb

Yes. Read up on "send effects" on page 64 in the manual.

    Recorded on my NEO...

Nice! I listened to a few others, too, and they're all quite good. Now, what is it exactly that the DP-24 couldn't do as well? Honest question, not trying to stir that pot again. Did you do the drum tracks in the box, or record a drummer?

Maintaining Your Tascam DP24, Neo etc

This vac was made for cleaning computers. There's only analog gear in the outboard rack anyway. I only vacuum a couple of times a year when I'm running cables or something.

Maintaining Your Tascam DP24, Neo etc

i keep mine covered with an fitted elasticized nylon cover when not in use. It's important to keep dust out of the sliders and such. I toss an old nylon poncho over the rack containing the outboard gear, too. I have a small handheld vacuum that I use occasionally to clean the back of the rack.

Is the DP-24 being discontinued or replaced?

Rolf, if you don't actually OWN the DP-24, then take your ax and grind it somewhere else. The vast majority of DP-24 users are perfectly happy with it. Every issue I encountered was fixed by new firmware releases. Four updates in the short time this has been on the market shows that Tascam...

Is the DP-24 being discontinued or replaced?

Crap? How can Tascam install the latest firmware once the unit has left the manufacturing facility? And if it's on the shelf at a wholesaler or retailer would you expect them to open every box and update the software? Really? Firmware upgrades are free and easy (even a bass player can do it)...

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

Doesn't matter ... the new firmware is available to download on Tascam's web site. Installation is simple with a USB connection and takes only a few minutes.

    Tascam DP24 Monitoring switch?

If that's what you wanted to do, you should have said so ... hell, just shut the monitors off when you don't want 'em. Use a swtiched power strip for the monitor power mains. Whatever floats yer boat. Not the way I'd do it, since you can't easily and quickly make A/B comparisons.

    Tascam DP24 Monitoring switch?

Seems to me a simple stereo A/B switch (like this .. Sescom Sescom SES-AUDIO-AB RCA Stereo Audio MP3 iPod FLAC WMA A/B Switch Audio Switchers at Markertek.com ) would work to kill/activate the monitor circuit. There are other 1/4" stereo units, but you'd need to go from L/R on two cables to one...

Tascam - 32 Track 24 Bit Digital Portastudio

there's no external hard drive ... it's just a memory card. No moving parts, no mechanical delay, inexpensive, easily replaceable, easily scaled (just buy more cards!). There are no negatives. If you already have a neo, you may want to browse other threads in this forum ... some neo owners...

Tascam - 32 Track 24 Bit Digital Portastudio

No ... no one understood what you were asking. Depends on how many tracks, audio resolution, whether you mix and master every song ... 32 gigs is more than enough to record several complete projects, and it's easy to backup to a computer via USB if you need to clear room on the card. I have a...

DP-24 - NO SOUND FROM MY KEYBOARD - is it me or my DP24 unit??

Did you assign the inputs to tracks? Did you arm the tracks to record? I suggest you read the manual. (btw, I'd suggest you assign those inputs to one of the stereo pairs, 13/14 thru 23/24, to get the proper rendering of the Motif's stereo effects)

Whatever ... I defer to your obviously superior knowledge ...

Is the DP-24 being discontinued or replaced?

This is even better ... an unqualified opinion of a non-owner. Has your friend updated his firmware? Contrary to your experience I found Tascam to be quite responsive to user issues, and most 'teething' issues have been resolved in the latest (and earlier) firmware release. My DP24 has never...

DP-32, Windows 7 64 bit - USB, unrecognized device error

I've never experienced your problem, but I can tell you that I had no issues connecting to my DP-24 (same firmware, etc) to a Win7 desktop, and to a Win7 Starter netbook.

Is the DP-24 being discontinued or replaced?

I think what you mean to say is that you bought one, and not having done your research beforehand, found it didn't meet your needs. My Dp24 meets MY needs exactly, and is a great unit.
