The P120 piano sample is much better than the 80. The P90 incorperates that same sampleset. -muzakal

    EPS 16+ w/ EMU MP-7

Wow - EPS16 was definitely a classic back in the day. Has an 8 track sequencer, right? The MP7 I'm a bit more familiar with. Also has onboard sequencing. This scenario becomes really easy, as you'll probably want to control the MP7 using the EPS16's keybed. MP7 has those cool buttons...

    Advice for beginner

What kind of legal considerations? The word "legal" pops up, and sounds like you'll need to do some homework on royalties, contracts, and the like. There are some great books out there that will keep you square for a number of scenarios regarding songwriting/production/performance protection...

    define aftertouch

Pressure would be a better word for this function (thanks) "real world" puts a date on some things. Old school, baby. Love those clavinets. Ambi - for all the specs and info on the P80, check out this link: http://www.yamaha.com or even better http://www.yamahasynth.com Lots of great...

    define aftertouch

Aftertouch could be touched on quite a bit, as it's a basic function of most boards these days. You might do a little homework on it. My quick explanation is taking a simple sound like a violin. You push a key, and you hear the violin. Push the key a bit harder to where you've a) already...

    Yamaha p90

P90 for gigging, but for home use, you could use either or. Controlling is a different issue - the P250 would be the route I would take if I were choosing between those 2 boards. -muzakal

Help! Spilled coke, sticky keys and stuck notes

check out http://www.tritonhaven.com Seems I remember someone spilling coke on their triton awhile back and he took it apart, cleaned it up real good (toothbrush?) and everything worked fine. Must be that secret ingredient in Coke that makes it stop working. -muzakal

    Motif Rack ... query

Voices without effects are okay - just depends on which ones you're using. It's definitely a power house, but crippled without sampling. You can learn more about it here: http://www.yamaha.com Bang for the buck, it doesn't get much better in that price range. -muzakal

    define aftertouch

Aftertouch: A realtime control produced by pushing a key down further than the point at which the key's note sounds. Channel aftertouch affects all currently sounding notes; polyphonic aftertouch affects only the pressed note. -muzakal

    a good sound module...

Lotsa great modules out there. Mo Phatt Triton XV2020, 5050, 5080 (I kind of even like the Proteus modules - 2000 for sure) Motif blah blah blah, list goes on. Depends on what sounds you're looking for (specifically, not just genre 'hip hop" but *which* hip hop sounds you're looking for)...

    Yamaha p90

I'm not a fan of Kurzweil pianos, and general music definitely doesn't fit my bill, but it's all so subjective. My ears love the P series pianos. I'm also a big Roland piano fan, too (SRX02). It all depends on the application. If I was in the market for a great sounding piano for gigging...

    Yamaha p90

The P90 will eventulaly replace the P80. Utilizes same 22 megabyte 3 layer piano sample as found in the P120. It's basically a P120 but without speakers, etc. Weighs 37 lbs as opposed to the 40 lbs of the P80. P90 and P250 also use the same sample, but the huge difference between the p250...
