Im I one of the few who prefers not to clean their cymbal? Sure, a nice shiny cymbal looks good on stage, but i feel like the little bit of grime adds some different characteristics to the cymbals.

Well, Ive been wanting a conga for a while now, finally getting around to purchasing one. I think Ive decide just to buy a single conga instead of a conga/quinto set. This way Ill be able to buy a higher quality drum and use it to get started with, then purchase a quinto later on. Good idea...

Ok, somewhat inspired by the rim shot topic. Ive been wondering, for those drummers who use rim shots as sparse accents as opposed to using them as a normal hit, how do you set the gain on the snare mic? Because if you set it while the drummer isnt doing rim shots, when he does hit a rim shot...

I never realized that this was a popular technique to use rim shots most of the time... I rarely use rim shots, I mainly use em just for the really heavy accents occasionally...
