In the market for a new acoustic

Alright, I know this question has been asked a million times, but I'm looking to get away with buying one guitar that's suitable for both live and recording. I understand I can do much better for the money if I ignore the electronic aspect, but it's necessary for my purposes. I play a coffee...

    What distortion Pedal for Recording?

The new MXR Fulbore Metal is $100, and sounds incredible. I was sold on the ZVex Box of Metal until that came out. $170 bucks cheaper and sounds just as good.

    Recommendations On A Boost?

MXR Micro Amp does a great job and the price is awesome. I run it before my OCD to let the amp overdrive slightly naturally with the OCD off and push the OCD harder when it's on.

    Most under-rate/under-exposed guitarist...

Yeah and he's a great singer. If you listen to his stuff it's no wonder Wilson wanted him. His voice fits perfectly with Wilson's, but I wouldn't say his pitch is mind blowing. My brother and I cover a lot of PT and I don't have any problems hitting the harmonies.

Have you heard Wesley's solo stuff? It's incredible.

    make your eyes bleed METAL!!!!

Yeah, I've heard of them. They play Tremont and Amos' a good bit. I tend to stay away from the local music scene because it's just too much of the same hardcore crap. The only truly talented metal band that's come out of the Charlotte area since BTBAM is Wretched. Now THAT is a drummer. I'm...

    Vox Night Train

Basically an AC15 with more gain. Yes it is cathode biased. Amazing sounding little amp. Can do just about anything with some fiddling, including metal. I compared it side by side to an Egnater Rebel, and liked the Night Train slightly more for the sound I was trying to get.

    make your eyes bleed METAL!!!!

Great job. Mix is great, playing is great, clean vocals are excellent. The screams are good, but I'm not liking the mix of highs and lows. Personally, I would pick one or the other, having them both is overdoing it.

Safe to run vocals through a tube amp?

Cranking the normal will allow breakup with a lower master. I can change my amount of headroom.

Greg, have you ever heard of the band Nerf Herder? I think you would like them. This is great.

    Cottonfields of Summer

Hey guys. I'm not really posting this for quality, just hopefully to get a chuckle or two out of a few of you. But if you're interested in quality...it was all done live in front of my Macbook's mic. Pretty good, eh? I hope it doesn't offend anyone, it's just a joke...

Safe to run vocals through a tube amp?

The Stagepas 300 is actually what I own, and last time I jammed with them it didn't cut it. It works for my own band, so I blame it on them playing too loud, but you know people and their half stacks... My amp is a Peavey Classic 50...It gets quite loud before breaking up, especially since I've...

Safe to run vocals through a tube amp?

Hey guys...I'm jamming with a new band on Friday, and my PA is out of order. I used to run vocals through an SS amp all the time...but is it safe to use a tube amp? It's gonna be a lot of growling vocals too...dunno if that matters. I would assume no. Thanks, Holden

Meximod: My superpowered strat is complete!

There's loads of parted strats on ebay. You can get an American made body for about $250 if I recall correctly.

Meximod: My superpowered strat is complete!

Well, I have never tried these particular pickups without the shielding, so I can't tell you how MUCH of a difference it made, but it definitely made a difference and was worth the couple minutes of effort. there's still some 60 cycle hum, but I can sit in front of my computer in the bridge...
